  1. Well the screenshot in the news section on xenonauts site is tasteless ie simplistic.

    1. There is no highgrass that should hide "sectoids"

    2. There is no bushes

    Everything is too flat and non-destructible.

    P.S. That would be fun to destroy cabbidge with machinegun fire at least

  2. Having 30+ makes you feel more like an army

    It doesn't mean that you will send 30 men to every mission. But game engine should allow it.

    Limit the number of men sent to mission in the early game.

    - Skyranger could not take more then 16 or so.

    - Make it to be too expencive to have the full team for all the drops.

    - Make armour to be expensive.

    In xcom avanger had 24 slots or even more. Have you always pumped it with men?

    In apoc you could have at least 24 men on a mission, i don't believe that you sent more then 16

    Then, once they've earned their stripes, I give them real weapons.

  3. I don't really like it. This game is about mistery. You can not know the mystery before you won the game. You should not know what to expect.

    While it can be moddeble in some xml defines. But again ufo spawn frequency can be adaptive and can take into account a lot of different things. And aliens can have different tactics from game to game for replayability. Knowing what to expect is making game much easier.

    They can rip your intenceptors, terrorise the city, pull out your chinooks and make a base attack. This is all abot difficulty and expenses you can have every month. Behavoir should not be determined IMHO

    It sounds like you're talking about reaction fire now. That's already in.

    Yeah so i mean only two aliens firing at your soldier in the same time and things like that.

    If you have two aliens on your screen, shooting at you, then they can do it not one by one but together without perseption problems. In apoc all aliens were moving in the same time. Or at least units of their sqads were moving in the same time if my memmory is cheating

  5. Again i would imagine this like they are running on their own without your control. With some sintists locking theirselvs in lab room with aliens blowing the door but not qiuckly. And some scintists near dangerous alien containment chamber violantly eaten up by the eivil monsters they research that can be rescured if you are not taking care

  6. I think that the correct world map is one of the key features of this game. You have a feeling of reality.

    That would be very cool if you had a terror mission in a town that you living. The game can find out yur position during update by ip address or smth to create a mission in your neiborhood with a certain probability. At least i have always liked a possibility of a terror mission in Moscow :cool:

  7. Well my 2 cents is about replayability. In xcom all bonuses you had after allien research were the same every time. And you didn't have to make autopsy at all during the second play. Also you could sell almost all alien corpses.

    That would be fun if all the aliens captured alive and all the corpses captured dead were valuable for player. And you could work and work with them somehow but not just have one option to sell. May be techs to create human-alien hybrids or implants or toxin/virus or biomass for the planetary bomb...

  8. One more thought is about player's base attack. We've been pooing our pants with bricks when we recieved this message. And we were also scalcred to place alien containment module believing that aliens can rescure their friends from there or smth. While this is not so important this also can be interresting :P

    edit: some aliens can be placed in research modules and ailien containment during the base attack with some sintsits around for more fun and horror

  9. Well, squads immediately come to mind, though I'm not a programmer so I wouldn't know how hard that would be to implement. In Apocalypse, you were allowed (I think) 6 squads of 6 people, totalling 36 soldiers.

    Others, well, maybe I'll make a list some time later this week and post suggestions here. Been quite busy lately.

    That squads were implemented to:

    1. make realtime possible to play

    2. make tactical missions more quick in case of last alien lurked somewhere and game turned into realtime until this alien is close to you

    Any other ideas to make squads are useless

    Probably not. Much larger scale, so instead of a dozen or so, it'd be something like 50 scientists and engineer at least in a major base.

    1. You don't have to place all the scintists on the map if that is the problem

    2. They can be selfcontrolled

  10. I guess allien can break it's cell or wake up during autopsy or some box can suck someone inside lol.

    I've watched my father playing xcom when i was 7-8 y.o. and we have played lego reenacting alien containment module incident with me and my friend as a chief scintists inside with all scintist die except us. Just wanted to say that was pretty interresting :P

    p.s.: do not bring too advanced aliens inside your base alive

  11. You do get several different types of armour later. The current screenshots are basic starting gear, so really are pretty much off-the-shelf stuff.

    Yes i understand this and indeed that is reasanoble. But when you see an alien autopsy movie this guys are not using ordinary clinic suit but special sci-fi uniform.

    Suit for demonstration oppression is not really good idea (i will buy premium beta though ;))

    This is a sci-fi game as we simply have ufos and alien thecnlolgies ;)

    Out of curiosity, why?

    Different appearence would make a better flavour. This guys have a special purpose to fight unknown force and they use some costumes to do it in a more fashionable way.

    It would also make the game more scary. Like if you was ufologist and met some armed guys in a semispacesuits near your home

    A. No

    Sergey Vasiliev explained this in his x-com influenced book by special shield aliens initiate after landing. Only the player's landing aircraft has a very expencive device to penetrate it.

    Chrysalids

    In all ufo remakes was one more dangerous thing like chrysalid that was fun and can be implemented in Xenonauts. Brainsuckers from x-com appocalypse. But i gues you do remember them anyways

  14. I think operatives should look more like ghostbusters/scintists/pilots but not like soldiers. It is a special high tech organisation not a stupid army.

    Current operatives we can see on the screenshots can be used for auxilary forces. Smth like if aliens fought x-com and megapol in x-com 3 apocalypse. This soldiers act independently but on the side of player's operatives and die more or less quickly if they meet serious aliens.

    I will give a little better explanation: you can meet this auxilary troops when aliens are attacking military base or during some terror missions etc. thy are not a part of your drop team

  15. I suggest some ufos to be treated by the army without serious player interaction in the late game.

    I mean when you are fighting battleships you don't need to shot down and capture small scouts. Seing military airforces flying around would add a lot of flavour and remove the headache of boring supereasy battles. But if you let army to treat some ufo and they would take serious casualties you would recieve a penalty.

    This idea was in the Vladimir Vasilyev's Enemy Unknown sci-fi book
