  1. What has always confused me is the fact that upon arrival onto a mission there is no initial vision of the landscape. One would imagine that Charlie would due a fly-about of the crash zone to give the landing crew a chance to become familiar with the LZ, perhaps even a chance to lay down some machine gun fire on any visible extra terrestrials. How does everyone else feel about this?
  2. I found the aliens bases to be more frustrating from a glitch perspective. The mere fact that he large bases crashed 90% of the time upon beginning the mission
  3. Agreed save loading does negate the huge advantage he Praetors have, they seem to lose all of their power after save loading.
  4. Yeah Chris I don't think the final tier ever opened up for me, unless it was one of the 5 or so #### research items I avoided because I didn't want to risk a game crash.
  5. Hey Chris I went ahead and posted that bug report, I was able to pull the tank out of the ether zone however it was invisible and after blowing up the generators I was able to transport my troops out. However they were listed as MIA and I received the world is F'ed game over screen. Josip, it was pretty neat, however the tank is way OP atm...I only lost one soldier because of the beautiful beautiful beautiful tank.
  6. Are you supposed to capture officers or leaders right now? Officers have black hats, while leaders have solid red suits with a helmet with a visor. These guys are usually found in medium sized bases, I find them only on carriers usually but might also be on cruisers.
  7. Having NOT destroyed the two power generators but otherwise completing the mission I was able to open the door normally after killing the Preator. Upon opening this door and driving my Hover tank through this happens: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nsXV...ature=youtu.be The relevant portions are only in the beginning of the video with me driving the tank in what can only be described as the ether and it teleports or something time it moves. EDIT I went back in and was able to drive my tank out of the weird zone, however it was invisible. I then went back blew up both generators (I believe the time limit indicated in the briefing screen is also bugged because I took like 20 turns sitting around doing nothing) and retreated my troops through the door (which after destroying the generators the door frame vanished). I was then treated to a mission debriefing screen in which my entire squad was listed MIA, and upon advancing to the next screen was treated to the "Humanity has been conquered" game over screen. Instead of what I imagine should be we kicked alien anus screen.
  8. Hey Chris, I just completed the first room in the straight hallway and killed the lonesome Praetor. However upon opening the next door this happens: I end up blowing up the chair thinking that maybe the weird teleporting above was being controlled by that. Am I doing something wrong there?
  9. First of all, is this mission even complete-able? Second of all, any suggestions? I have two soldiers in Preator armor, 8 in the flying version, and the hover tank equipped with the plasma gun. All troops equipped with plasma weaponry, riot shields, fusion grenades, and elctro-shock grenades.
  10. I recall in the OG you would occasionally have a soldier go down wounded, and the game would tick down the turns till they died. Maybe that's the case here?
  11. For small bases I usually equip everyone with 3-4 alium-plasma grenades and bring 3 rocker launcher guys and make sure everyone has riot shields. Set up just inside the first door run one guy up open up the next door and have all three 'launcher guys obliterate the first obstacle with dudes behind it. Wait a turn move up everyone to inside second door and lob grenades. Then its usually as easy as mop up operation. Can usually do a small base with all soldiers no casualties. However medium and I dare say large bases...they are chewing through my experienced units. I even have my squad equipped with full Predator and the flying version of the Predator armor, Gatling lasers for the walking tanks and plasma rifles/sniper plasmas for the flying suits. Those freaking plasma shotguns are miserable. The text for the Tank armor says capable of withstanding a direct tactical nuke, yet the shotgun plasma shreds them like tissue paper. Lots of savescumming inbound I guess for those large bases. Sad part, since none of the bases have been fully initialized they are not even worth it.
  12. Are large bases the only opportunity to capture this games version of the Ethereal? Because if that's so that really is grating, I would rather sweep and clear Battleships and Carriers than bases, side note, is there any ships larger than those two?
  13. I have made it farther in my current game then ever before. Money has become tight, with income barely outpacing expenditures; however those dang large alien bases are popping up like freaking mushrooms. North America alone has five of them. Any advice here? My central American base is just being inundated by a constant stream of alien ships, I have lost air supremacy.
