  1. So I've done some playing around with the XML files and generally testing out how to get a workaround for this issue. It seems that as long as smoke dissipates before the end of the map, the game should return to the Geoscape. This is a big issue for missions where the UFO is on fire (from major/severe damage). As posted above, you can turn off smoke creation for the weapons but I found the best way to deal with this issue was to edit the gas_gc file. I changed all the values for dissipate chance to 75, except for PowerCoresSmoke (burning ufo smoke) which I changed to 95 (since there's usually tonnes of it). I also usually spend a few turns after a burning UFO has extinguished just to make sure all the smoke is gone (have everyone go outside). Hopefully this helps you guys get around this issue.
