  1. You just send two squads... One engages from each side (manual figth mode) to trim off one each then barrel rool your way to freedom. Second squad you can autobattle and wipe up the last. Sometimes you kill only one in the first battle, then do the second one in manual mode. Or, arm yer Phantoms with rockets not cannons...
  2. I'm playing on 'normal' and am a veteran of Xcoms from Microprose days, Firaxis, and the Altar series. The difficulty is way off. From the outset aliens one shot soldiers that are behind cover, its right to lose a good few in the early game meatgrinder but the chance of a wipe is too high and the benfit of cover too low and the likelihood of a soldier surviving is way too low - damage reduction in cover might work, or just less accurate enemies overall by a fraction but getting a good start means too much save-scumming, and load/save times are high which is offputting. Once you progress (I'm currently burning thru aliens with Gauss + 3rd tier armour) teh aliens skills or armour or accuracy dont seem to scale well, and you quickly overtake them anbd teh game gets much, MUCH easier. Having enemies later on scale in some way scale better with the survivability / survival rate of squads might help & also encourage people to allow a few cannon fodder to die without endless tedius load/save loops.
  3. I agree, the game needs to not just instapop your colonels when the RNG God scowls, some ability to recover ina mission without save-scumming would be a good balance, but if you wipe a mission you kinda justwipe your whole game currently.
  4. No. Flat surfaces work only, some roofs, not all.
  5. I did try this already, it did not work. However, Goldhawk have now fixed this so not an issue now.
  6. Ok, second patch released very soon after has fixed this issue for me based on a quick test.
  7. [EDIT: ISSUE RESOLVED BY SECOND PATCH - NO LONGER AN ISSUE] I loaded the game and my saves were gone after downloading a Steam patch just now. I found the forums a bit hard to navigate and found no solution (nor warning it might happen) there. Also, no entry of what the patch was was found despite a link to see patch notes in game. My expectaitosn were not really met, but I get its early access etc I was just surprised...
  8. This is a thread for the UI tweaks - menus, options, keys, interface, etc. My shortlist is: 1) Autosaves would be better (to me) if they were on a separate list, perhaps with an autosave section at the top and a manual save at the bottom, so my manual/named saves could be more easily found. 2) When saving, pressing return, or pressing return twice should click 'save' and click away warnings like 'are you sure you want to...' - currently it requires you to move the pointer and click on 'save' then click away the warning. Using two interfaces to save game (keyboard to type a save name, then mouse to confirm it) niggles at me. 2) Trivial niggle really, but - the loading screen spends 90% of its time displaying 90% (for me), if that could be spread out it'd be grand.
