I have noticed this as well, it seems to happen (but not always) after I have finished off the last alien on the map.

One thing I noticed during a ground combat mission is that one of my soldiers (no armor and heavy machine gun), when he was kneeling/turning, the graphic set would look like it would cycle through the graphic sprite sheet incorrectly. Hard to explain, but it was not a smooth stand to kneel, it would cycle so you could see parts of the sprite map that aren't associated with kneeling/standing.
