Build V8.1 is just a collection of bugfixes related to V8 that have been reported to us. The biggest one is the fact that you can now reselect the resolution of the game.
V8.2 is due towards the end of this week and will contain the Research tree and ground combat Save / Load features, plus any additional bugfixes that are required.
Patch notes below (other changes have also happened but are not listed):
- Re-added the resolution changer box - you can now choose what display size for the game to run in.
- Main title screen images updated.
- Aircraft cannon images updated.
- UFOs now disappear correctly from Geoscape when escaping to space.
- Deprecated short range radar graphic removed from the Geoscape.
- Commence / Resume operation text is now clickable on the title screen, rather than just the checkbox.
- Quitting a game now takes you to Main Menu rather than desktop.
- Save game now also saves on pressing Enter after typing a game name.
- Double clicking on a save in Load Game screen loads it up automatically.
- Save games must now have unique names.
- Aircraft weapon slots are now labelled with their type - Normal, Heavy or Cannon.
- Aircraft can now Tail UFOs (and also tail them until they are over land)
- Re-added the resolution changer box - you can now choose what display size for the game to run in.

May not be tonight after all. There's a critical bug the fixes caused which needs to be fixed itself. If we can get it done tonight then you guys are in luck - if not then it'll have to be tomorrow.
-
Should be out today.

The soldiers should have injury/death sounds already but if not i'll fix that up. The alien ones have been recorded too, but aren't in the game. Thinking about it, I should probably add them...

The new autocannon art is basically a vulcan cannon.

I have skyrim sitting on my desk but as yet uninstalled. Frankly I'm too scared to do it until we've got the press build done!

We were hoping to release v8.1 today but I wasn't able to arrange it all - I've flown out to belfast (northern Ireland) for a friends wedding this weekend which means I won't be able push it out until Monday. Hopefully it'll be the full 8.1 with a research tree then but that's yet to be determined. Not a long post, but I thought I'd keep everyone in the loop. Again, sorry for the delay - I've not been good at keeping to deadlines recently!

Hmm I just tried running a soldier around until he leveled up strength (strength is gained by APs spent with over 50% of max weight limit carried I think), but the weight limit seemed fine when I checked him after the battle. Odd. Does anyone have any more details or a way of reproducing this one? Admittedly I only completed the mission in Debug mode by pressing 'V' but I don't have time to play a full mission to try and reproduce this....
-
I'm not getting this at all, although I've seen it in the past. Are you guys clicking beyond the door and having the soldier open it automatically, or are you right-clicking on it to open and then going through it? Which tile specifically are you ordering the soldier to move to? It's a bit strange I can't recreate it at my end when you guys seem to all be experiencing it.
-
Hmm, that shouldn't happen. How can I replicate this? I haven't been able to do it at my end.

Thanks. I've noticed the first myself, good screenshots on the latter.
-
Thanks for the detailed description. I'll point the combat coder at the post to see if he can correct the issue.
-
Yeah. I'm aware of this one but unsure how to fix it. I'll think about it.
-
Hmm. Looks like an issue with sort points in the terrain editor. I'll look into it. Probably won't fix it immediately because it's so integrated with other systems but I'll see what I can do.
-
Corrected this now, thanks.

Good spot. Weird. We're probably going to get rid of that block anyway so it's not too high on our list of priorities but it's a bit bizarre anyway.
-
Yup, verified. Thanks.
-
Oh no, this is actually active in the development build too. Good spot.
-
OK thanks. It's an error in the strings.xml file. I've obviously deleted a line I wasn't meant to.

I imagine what happened was that it flew through the UFO, into its firing arc and was shot by the UFO which destroyed the MiG. Because they were so close together you wouldn't have seen the projectile. There's no collision detection in the game so they wouldn't have crashed into each other.
We need to stop planes from overshooting their targets thought, they do it all the time and it's not exactly smart flying.
-
Yup, if you have V8 then please can you provide more details on which specific screen and where specifically you clicked to cause a crash? It's a bug we'll need to fix if it's still there.

Don't count on getting free DLC - we've not made a commitment to release any DLC packs for Xenonauts yet, and we may well not do so!
To me it makes more sense to put the stuff you want in the game before release rather than afterwards...

The double doors can't be closed because you have to be able to click on part of the tile to activate the 'close' cursor. With a normal door it's fine, as the frame can trigger the cursor, but for the double doors the best I could do would be to turn the alpha right down to like 2%. That still leaves a visible 'ghost' door though unfortunately.
Thanks for the feedback all.

If you've got a Premium pre-order of the game, it might take a couple of hours for the Desura patch to be updated. The Standard branch on Desura is fine but I was having trouble uploading it to the Premium branch and I only did that about half an hour ago. Hopefully the approval will be fast but there's no guarantee - the Standard branch took about 2 hours to be approved.
