I am doing a alien base mission. Ran into an ambush and discovered that two of my men had no guns.Where were they left? Had to reload a save to find the guns. All my troops have as high bravery as I could manage at this point in the game yet they are still repeatedly panic, unnerved, berserk, etc. Almost every turn this happens. I am still using lasers which are black on a black background and are not easily noticed when missing. I may be stupid for not checking weapons every turn but am very tired running around looking for the guns dropped somewhere. There should be some kind of defense against psions because looking for guns on floor, sometimes hard to see, is no fun.

Learned the hard way. I put my first base in central america to cover all 3 areas worth lots of money. What I didn't realize was that having so much water about meant that most of the ufo's I shot down went in the ocean, no recovery, no experience for my troops. I've been on 2 missions and it is the middle of October. Also since I am playing X:CE with the mods the ufo's run away from my condors so I can't shoot them down which further reduces my opportunities for a ground mission. You need that early experience so put that first base in the middle of large land mass. Has anyone succeeded with your first base in the Americas?

Yes I have noticed these changes. However I have also noticed that they really chuck those grenades around now, so far they always hit Xenonauts and not themselves. I seldom get home without all my team wounded some degree because of those grenades. OK, I have grenades too. Unfortunately almost everything blocks my line of sight including a 1 m high wall!!!! Hope Xeno 2 does better with LOS.

OK, thank you. I' only in september so I think I'll start over. By the way, is the AI much better in X:CE or am I just imagining it?

I'm playing the xce with all those great mods and I just noticed that laser weapons have been skipped. I went straight to plasma guns. In my vanilla playthrough I remember getting laser first then later plasma. Did I miss something or was this change intentional? If so, I don't think I like it.

Yep, just did that. Looking good. The aliens seem to have gotten smarter too. 2 of my team were killed by Caesan non-combatants!!!! Ouch!

Well, I downloaded xeno again from Steam and this time all the mods were automatically present. However I cannot load a saved game, just get a 'runtime error'. It seems that I can start the game over and it will work though. Hate to start over after all my blood, sweat, and tears but it seems I have no choice. Thanks for trying to help.

The only buttons to click are 'check code' and 'close'. If there is nothing in the code area nothing happens when you click the button. clicking close, of course, closes the window and you are back to start. There is no 'ok' button. I looked carefully.

Thank you. When I got to the betas and clicked xce a' beta access code to unlock private betas' is required. Where do I get that?

If you've switched to the Commmunity Edition on Steam, then you also get the X:CE mods automatically. That is why I say Steam is easier, you don't have a separate package to install.
In the game launcher, you can go to Modding Tools, and you should see a whole bunch of mods that X:CE bundles.
I have ce 1.65 on Steam. In the mod tools there is only Skitso ultimate maps mod 2000. This is activated. There is nothing else there. This is all I got from Steam!!!

Thank you Chris. I have it on Steam now. I am trying to figure out how to get the mod pak installed. Solver said it is easier but I can't do it. Steam has upgrades automatically but not mods. Any help anybody?

You're right. I didn't have a steam key. I got one and installed xeno on Steam. Now for the mod. I assume it will be different. How to get the mod to my steam xeno?

Yes, you have to use the modded executable. That is, the launcher should say X:CE 0.34.1, and not 1.65. You have to use that modded executable to install the mod pack, and then just use the modded executable. If you're running the game from assets\mods\xce, then the other mods should also be present in assets\mods.
Ok Solver, I now have a Steam account. Do I have to buy the game again through Steam or can I somehow transfer my copy to my Steam account. Would appreciate your help.

Yes I did. I also tried running the game through the mod executable and not vanilla.

OK!!! I installed the mod pack of X:CE. Now the game freezes at the first alien turn every time. I have to close out the game and start over. It's unplayable now.

I downloaded the community ed. last week. I think is the .34.1 but it did not come with Lore+. I can't even find Lore+ on the downloads list here. Where is it? Incidentally this site is very confusing to a newcomer.

The only mod I have is Skitso's map pak. No Lore+.

Thank you. The xenopedia doesn't identify officers though. I have done over 35 missions and have not seen an officer yet. I would think that the Caesan would be easy with the white head to identify if it had a helmet. Anyway I did get one of some kind of officer. I just put away my guns and stunned everybody in the alien ship. I always carry many stun grenades. Stunned most of my crew also but I got him.

Thank you, next time I will try to go stand on all the dead aliens if I can't spot him first. I hope Xenonauts 2 has a zoom feature on the ground missions maps. By the way, this is a great game. Well done.

yes, I am playing the community edition. I still haven't seen an officer. I just finished a terror mission where there was supposed to be a officer Caesun(?) and another ground mission after which I was informed that I had killed an officer. That's 3 missions and I was looking especially for an officer. I'm thinking that my reaction fire killed them before I really had a chance to look at them. And after they are dead it's impossible to tell. Thanks for reply.

Just got my first ufo with officer aboard. Game told me that an officer was there but I couldn't see it. There were 2 reapers and 10 sebellions. All the sebellions looked identical. All seemed to be wearing helmets. Hard to be sure since you can't zoom in and I didn't have enough stun gernades to get them all. How can I tell? I think 'UFO Extraterrestials' with B-man mods did it right by making the officers a different color.

Are you sure that the entirety of the second floor was completely checked? Props have a tendency to mask tiles.
My soldier was standing about 4 spaces from the top of the stairs and facing away from them. There were no props anywhere behind him. In other words, no place to hide at all for the alien. At this point in the game with my soldiers so vulnerable I check thoroughly before hitting the turn key. Thank you for replying.

On my third ground mission. A small village with a couple of two story buildings. I surrounded the building and sent two men inside. no aliens. I sent one man upstairs to check and again, nobody home. Next turn my guy upstairs was shot in the back by an alien standing at the top of the stairs. Where did he come from? Not downstairs, that was covered. Nor upstairs, that was checked completely. Is this possible? It happened!!!

Yeah, but those messages flash on the screen so fast and so often that I miss them. Maybe I'm a slow reader. However if I ignore an alien base until I'm better prepared won't it negatively affect that country to the extent that I could loose It?
