OK. I may be retarded but... I've been playing up to Medium UFOs. Can't seem to catch any UFO with Condors... How do I get the next series of Fighter jets to keep up?

I know this has never been thought of before, but I'd really like air support to make ground missions easier. Hear me out. In modern combat (I suppose even in 1979) we have close air support, be it from A-10s or attack helicopters. I'd like to be able to "summon" such help from these aircraft to soften up the enemy and make ground combat easier (of course, it can be rebalanced to fit). I suppose that a Xenonaut operative have to operate a certain weapon-like item like an IR designator as an easy workaround to being able to do this. As for the close air support craft, I suppose you'd need to have at least an interceptor with sufficient cannon ammo and fuel lingering at the site (or send another craft) on-site to do this. What do you guys think?
