  1. What triggers the option to research Alien Plasma Technology anyway? I've not been able to research it but thought it was because I hadn't captured the right tech yet.
  2. "By rear compartment, do you meant that little room with the glowy thing and tubes with fetuses or whatever?" I meant the larger of the two compartments and the one in Shuuk's screenshot. I always seem to come across it at the 'back' of the ufo behind the smaller control room with the console in the middle and glowy tubes, so taken to calling it the rear compartment.
  3. That's odd as I was trying it in late July when I found the problem. Maybe it depends on what mission the fighter spawns with?
  4. That would be my guess for the countdown, and the start screen does say 'hold ufo for 5 turns' rather than hold control room after all. And yes the cursor goes red when you move over an alien in the shroud in the back of the ufo, was so happy I'd found a way round the end of map issue I didn't think to report it as a separate bug...
  5. Yep you're right; disengage works with scouts but not fighters. It does makes sense for it to work like that but it would feel more natural if either: - the button reflected your chances of disengaging, either by being greyed out when you have no hope of disengaging or somehow reflecting your chances, or; - when air combat starts it reflects what you attempted, so if you try disengage then your fighters are being pursued not the other way around (which seems to be the case now regardless of whether you go for engage or disengage).
  6. Not sure how often most people will actually use it but the 'disengage' button that pops up when you close into attack range of a ufo doesn't actually work, it just starts air combat exactly the same as 'engage'.

Don't know whether its been raised before, but how about when you use the mouse wheel zoom in the geoscape it zooms in on where your cursor is (ala Google Maps) rather than zooming on the centre of the screen? When you are trying to zoom in on the arctic/antartic quickly it can be annoying to have to zoom and then scroll up/down several times. Some kind of zoom animation (box overlay, scale pop-up or similar) would also be cool, giving the sense of a satellite feed being zoomed in consistent with the border graphics suggesting the map is realtime data from Sputnik

Shooting down ufo fighters no longer creates crash sites but after shooting down two or three I now seem to have a >50% chance of the application crashing every time I shoot another fighter down. Only happens with fighters, not scouts or corvettes, and if I avoid engaging with them it doesn't happen either.
  9. For anyone struggling with 2, you can identify where the aliens are in the inaccessible section by changing to the targeting mode and looking for which tile it turns red on. Assuming you have enough rockets or grenades the blast damage can be used to kill the aliens you can't see... Sathra - should holding the control room for 5 turns be enough to win or do you need to hold the whole ufo?
  10. I'd noticed something immediately to the right of the rear door sometimes blocked your line of sight if an alien was hiding on the right side of the rear compartment. That said I hadn't noticed any difficulty shooting at it once spotted.
  11. Hmmm could be something to do with hardware setup/sound card then. I'll try installing xenonauts on my laptop and see if I can get the same problem when doing the same thing.

  13. Noticed a few times now that when the end of a soldiers move path uses his last AP to open a door the audio glitches and the sound of his footsteps continue until you next move him, including right through the hidden movement phase.
  14. Have noticed after loading a couple of different geoscape saves that the tracker for expected positive/negative changes to monthly funding based on performance is reset when the save loads. Kinda helped me out just before the end of after a fairly abysmal -$150K month (and why I noticed) but guessing its not meant to happen
  15. Had a very similar hang on the hidden moves screen just now but also can't say it was after anything doing specific.
  16. Hi there - been following for a while but pre-ordered this week and now stuck into V8.5. Awesome game Right then, having saved and then loaded a ground combat mission, I finished the mission and noticed two things (as well as the mission state restarting and not being saved, already reported elsewhere): 1. The top line of buttons in the geoscape no longer work and so to access base layout, research, etc I needed to click on the base itself and then use the tabs within the base view to navigate around. Annoying but fairly minor. 2. Completed a further ground mission by killing all the aliens but when trying to finish a third I found that the ability to complete the mission by holding the control room for five turns no longer works. Combined with the UFO being against the edge of the map, and I expect at least one alien hiding in the back section, the mission couldn't be finished.
