[V1.08H - Geoscape] Cannot Place Buildings In Base's Corner

Buildings cannot be place on either two southern corner of the base. The top corners work just fine. In order for the bottom corners to allow buildings to be place, it must be two tiled buildings such as the Living Quarters or Laboratory.

Update: After building my second base, it turns out that no single tiled building can be placed in corners in general either for the exception of the top most corners.

You can only build next to an existing building.

See the highlighted area (white), that's me attempting to place two different buildings at those corners, the only buildings that seems to be applicable there are the two tiled buildings such as the lab.

How does that contradict what I told you already?

You can't build on the slot you have higlighted as there is no existing building in adjacent slot. Diagonal is not adjacent when building. It is a rule. You could have placed your building projects more carefully knowing this to cover more ground (and unlock more ground for further building after). Rotate the buildings below and above the comm center and place them in the position of the storage room and the medical center.

I see, thank you. "Existing building" was a bit of double entendre. Ok so plots can only be placed next to a finished constructed building, got it. Thanks again.
