  1. Other thing to complain about:

Hit probability. Can it be changed to 100%? Missing 2/3 of the burst with 95% each is kinda frustrating (100 accuracy, next to the enemy and crouching; no obstacles).

Smoke. It only works against Androns. Other enemies are not affected by it and can snipe my guys with no probs.

  2. Okay, how do I disable this shit?! One of my soldiers has 99+ morale and as soon as I end my turn he falls under alien control after first mental attack. I've reloaded my savegame 5 times already and it's all the same: mind attack -> success -> kills one or two comrades.

How the bloody hell that alien leader breaks through over 100 courage THAT easy?!! Any mod around to add some extra mental stability? it's like my men are cowardly chickens that poop their pants as soon as they hear voices in their heads. Disgusting.

Oh well, constant re-loading did its job. My guys are okay this time.

  3. Nah. Once you get close enough with plasma shotgun and enough time units for two snap shots - nothing can survive that (if you have like 80% hit).

What I do during command room assault is enter the room with the shield guy, collect reaction shots from all the aliens inside, move in the rest of my crew and flashbang everything. Do not forget about the cover. Next turn I have enough TU to point blank everyone inside. This tactics works like a charm if aliens have plasma cannons aka plasma bazooka.

Last time there were 4 Sibillian elites with plasma cannons and one officer with heavy plasma. Next turn after flashbang show they all were dead. Same tactics works against Harridans as they have no TU to fire their sniper rifles. Casseans are a bit of an issue as they mostly have elites in the command room and elites always carry assault rifles, which can deal terrible damage even to wolf-equipped soldier.

As for the enemy of choice I'd go with... Androns, I guess. Sebs are ok once reapers are dead. Cas are terrible, me no liek them.

  4. During a terror mission I've encountered a soldier, who was keeping assault-type Sibillian trapped inside the building and suppressed for a couple of turns. In the end, when that thing rushed for my guy that heroic anon slaughtered it down with a burst reaction fire. I was like 'can I have you in my team, mighty hero?' :D

Sometimes local forces do wonders. Even if they don't - one more dead/suppressed enemy is always a good thing.

  5. For me having a tank is a must. Yeah, I lost 5 Hunters before I got a Scimitar but good Lord, how much potential damage each of them tanked! Thousands of damage! No soldier could ever survived that much! Hunters can easily withstand anything but heavy plasma, battle rifle and plasma cannon.

As for the Scimitar - I love it. It can survive direct hit of a plasma cannon (took 40 hp only) and obliterate any target he hits (plasma cannon is so much awesome; especially when it deals 215 damage). I'm building the second one for my team-B.

As for the teams - I have two fully equipped squads of 10 and 8 men respectively. Team A - all colonels, Team B - half of them have commander rank. All have Wolf/Buzzard armours and plasma weapons. I have 30 scientists and 30 engineers working day and night. I feel like building two more workshops at my second base.

Oh and don't forget about the base upgrade! It gives +50% to research/production. You need alien base for that. That's what I'm going for right after my smart heads deal with MAG weaponry.

Sure I've paid the price of losing aerial superiority. To me terror sites and alien base missions aren't something extraordinary as I'm not able to take down all the UFOs. 4 bases, each has 2 Foxtrots, 1 Corsair and 1 Condor as a backup. The game is throwing carriers and now even battleships at me. Carriers are no problem but battleships are :S

Oh and I recently got my first Shrike. The second one is in progress.

Funds ain't an issue as one carrier/terror site gives 150~170k (air-striking the carrier gives ridiculous 60k).

  6. Thanks for replies.

Yeah, I can confirm that you keep everything (loot, money, exp, medals, wounds) from one crash site to another.

Just went from one carrier crash to another and freaked out - one soldier has gone! X_X Re-loaded my geoscape save, checked soldier list - he's chilling at the med bay already! I didn't know my men have portable teleports! Keep this in mind and stay calm, guys! :))

  7. I was thinking this problem of aliens not being able to complete their missions (terror, construction and base assault).

This question is mainly directed to Solver and llunak regarding the CE possibilities: Whenever there's a terror, construction or base assault mission spawned, could the game spawn an additional air superiority mission to same coordinates to protect the main vessel? This would make shooting the main ufo down a bit more of a challenge.

You mean the main ship, its escort plus one-two additional wings of alien superiority fighters? Sure, why not.
