  1. Okay, I just actually played a game with them.. Holy crap.. Just.. Jesus. The Sniper rifle should get nerfed to some degree, maybe just getting 5 rounds per mag and needing some requirement to be fired, like crouching or something. That much damage it just.. Godlike. Also the burst action on the auto shotgun suppressed things far away. The G11 was performing ok. The battle rifles just plain sucked. Didn't use the GL yet, either of them. As for the heavy weapons.. Jesus. I've yet to use them primarily because I have one soldier qualified to even hold it, probably not even accurately shoot it. I mean a real 20mm, like the Anzio, can weigh over 100 pounds. Some smaller ones like the Croatian RT-20 is like 40. Using these rifles in game is really really difficult due to the weight requirements. :I

  2. That is how the real G11 fired. The 3 round burst has less accuracy effecting recoil than two SINGLE SHOTS before the last bullet leaves the barrel. It's 3 shot burst Cyclic ROF is over 2000 rounds a minute. Compare that to say a M-16A2 or later at a measly ~680 Cyclic ROF.

The G11 however is LESS accurate in FULL AUTO than any other mode (as it should be.)

Check out this article on HK pro if you want the a quick synopsis of the details.

I should mention that one of the G-11 Prototypes made it into the Movie "Demolition Man" as the Ack-Mag (unsure of the movie scripts spelling) A MAGNETIC rail gun that had a ROF of 1/Minute.

But uh.. no.. RoF amazingly isn't that important. Also the really only way ahead of its time thing was the caseless ammunition. Some would say it was too ahead of it's time.

Anyway I must say.. You get these weapons /WAY/ too early. It doesn't even feel like an accomplishment getting or using them since you can get them that simply. Although it is slightly mitigated by having to make them using the workshop. Also just aesthetic problems, IE why is the kalashnikov a battle rifle? :I And why is the magazine it uses so large?

  3. Yes, I was being sarcastic. I know why rifles are the main weapons. I'm in the NG, infantry. Which is why some say I'm really biased against weapons represented in game, but this does seem partially unbalanced. And you mean ~300 really. But that's not the point. I mean if you're moving and firing only to really suppress that's more of a support weapon. And the rifle represented in act like much more of a DMR/Range rifle than an assault rifle. And the only reason it'd incapacitate/kill is if you hit a certain spot. Which is the case with... really any gun of really any caliber. If I shot you in the foot you could probably stumble away no matter what caliber or gauge shell I used. (Granted it'd probably hurt the more you go, but you get the point.)

  4. So I just went back and tried it again. And I realized I was playing a mod (I have like three different xenonauts icons on my desktop and I guess I got them mixed up). And while I can't say rifles are still 100% better because of the same before reasons, I tried it again on the base game and the rifles are better performing.

  5. Sure androns are a problem, and I realize that but I could always throw two shotguns at it instead of one. And it still performs better than the same amount of riflemen. Which was the point. Rifles individually, apparently, perform subpar. But from what I've seen they work great in groups.

  6. No no, my fault, misunderstood. Regardless of which, even with those factors taken out, looking purely at firing at an enemy, the shotgun seems a lot better at the job. And with those factors the shotgun seems like a better choice regardless. From what I've seen here it basically seems like you need multiple riflemen to use them effectively. Somewhat like ye old archers.

  7. Well for one I'm talking about the very start of the game, as I did this just to try currently. And anywhere. Quite literally anywhere. The rifle guy can't kill or keep up with the shotgunners who just cover hop their way up to the enemy and kill them. I've tried using all rifles and it's just a pain because they all miss or do very little damage. And I don't /want/ to do that is the problem. I love firing at them from afar, in fact in XCOM:EU/EW I practically only used assault rifles and sniper rifles because I preferred staying back. It feels like it's a problem because shotguns actually use pellets, instead of, again, like XCOM:EU/EW

  8. That's also a problem, stellar. Even if it does hit they usually do negligent damage when I could do more than that by just running up/cover hopping my way to point blank and one-two hit killing a lot of enemies instead. Plus aimed frequently takes a lot of TU for one hit. When, again, shotguns can do more than that for a lot less TU. There's not that many options for different tactics. I mean I've tried quite a lot of things.
