  1. Well, let me tell you this. If you decide to make Xenonauts 2 -- and continue to have Linux support you'll get another happy customer from me. Hell, this time I'll fork out for a custom named character :) I've always kicked myself for passing on that lol.

Yes, a day 1 release would be nice.

  2. Thanks friend but... it doesn't work! I am unable to find the savegame in the load menu. I guess this is because I am still on 1.51?

I believe I copied the file in the correct location:

    me# /home/steam/Xenonauts# ls -l-rw-r--r-- 1 steam steam 1575044 Feb 7 21:11 AutosaveIM2015-01-30_22.56.02.sav.ori-rw-r--r-- 1 steam steam 85765 Feb 8 02:25 g1.sav-rw-r--r-- 1 steam steam 4642 Jan 30 23:39 gameconfig.xml-rw-r--r-- 1 steam steam 18738 Feb 7 21:11 __newGameSave__.ori

BTW, where could I find this editor? Many thanks and regards!

  3. Actually, if you could delete the /industrial/ tileset again and replace it with this one, that'd be great: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26290309/industrial_updated.zip

Does that still work? If so, that should combine the best of the atlases with the fixing of the issues.

I found another map where that terrible slowdown is happening (terror mission).

I am attaching a screenshot of one of the worst (i.e. slowest) areas of that map.

Would it be possible to give it the same cure offered for the industrial map? Regards

The new files work too, no slowdown and no crashes (GNU/Linux).

I've updated my custom startup script. It will now keep save files inside the WINE directory instead of putting them into the home directory (which is bad behavior). Public domain for all I care:

Why saving savefiles in home folder should be bad? Every application saves personal settings in user's home folder. It would be nice if xenonauts savegame folder would be hidden (just put a dot before, e.g. 'xenonauts' -> '.xenonauts'.

  5. Teodosio - try the same fix as for the Mac build, then. Go into /assets/tiles/ and delete the /industrial/ directory.

Replace it with the directory here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/26290309/industrial.zip

    See if that helps?

Many thanks, it seems to be working! I just loaded a save game that was slow as hell and it seems to be working fine now!

    What did you change?

I will keep testing (using "new" GNU/Linux version).

  6. I had a weird one happen to me tonight, I finished a base assault, returned to base and then did a new mission and the plasma pistols my troopers had equipped had the same amount of ammo as they had when I finished the base assault. I did had the same amount of extra clips, though, so it wasn't a terminal issue, and I've managed to prevail that mission regardless of the ammo situation, but it is something to keep in mind.

It happened the same to me once with 1.06, soldiers started mission with 5 ammos on 12 max in their rifles.

  7. Well, it says windows-only now. So I guess the answer is: No, the game is no longer being released for linux.

Without diving into wayback machines and screenshots, I would never have purchased a game without linux support indicated (I do not own windows machines). My link at the humblebundle still has linux/mac options. I'm not saying I don't want the game now, it does play, but this move away from official linux support in future updates is disappointing. I cannot be the only one.

    +1 agree 100%

you are not the only one
