  1. And you are calling me a troll?
  2. Not a troll, I felt that I had a right to retort. And did you read that Chris himself stated it is a remake of X-Com? Or are you so selective in what you read? Glad to know that I got under all your skins...Have fun with your remake...
  3. All me to retort, no, I am not trolling. I had seen the title listed on HumbleBundle and I am frankly apalled at the blantent use of the X-Com IP in your title. @Com Pancakes: 1. Your are splitting hairs on your first point. I do not recall any other FPS stating they are a "Spiritual Successor" to another. If you are speaking about the "Doom Clones", let's look at them: 1. Quake - ID Software 2. Heartic - ID Software 3. Hexen - ID Software 4. Chex Quest - Licensed to use the ID Software Engine I can keep going, but the only other series that I remember playing that was somewhat similar, was Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior. But they were both on 3D Relms engine. 2. You didn't answer the question, have you played the UFO series. Seems to be the same type of game as Xenonauts. 3. I didn't make any remakes about the current titles retaining key mechanics, is there a reason you stated that in your defense of Xenonauts? @Jean-Luc 1. See the above, Doom and Quake are not only on the same engine, they share share the same items in certain versions. For example, you can find the BFG 9000 in both Doom, Doom 2 and Doom 3 as well as Quake II and the BFG 10000 in Quake III. But, if you watch the movie DOOM, you see a BFG 9000 in that movie. But as stated, they are owned by ID Software, until Bethesda bought the company. 2. The spelling has nothing to do with the face that Xenonuats is taking from the X-COM series. @KevinHann: What I appriciate is innovation, in the industry. Recently, there has been a flood of non-innovative titles reaching Green Light. Some obvious clones, others in the guise of a new name and claims of inspiration. If I took Shakespear, built my works around it, said I was inspired by it but is looked like Shakespear, sound like Shakespear, would it not be Shakespear? @Gavinrad: Thank you, that is perfectly put, I agree completely with you. @StellRat Well sir, if you state I have no right to say anything about Xenonauts due to the fact I have never played it. Since you have not played Enemy Unkown, you have no right to judge it as well. As far as what Julian Gollop has stated, he doesn't own the IP, rather errelevant at this point. And yes, the owne the IP matters, legally. @Max_Caine A step back would be nice as the fanboy-ism is rising. What can't the supports read my post without gathering a mob with pitchforks and torches? And if you reply in a negative way about that question, you answer mine... @Chris Yes, I do understand the term. And I find it amazing that you state it is an unofficial remake of X-Com. So it seems my point is vaild and that everyone in the above post is defending it as a spiritual successor. So you are remaking X-Com and charging money for it? You are using IP that is owned by others and making money off it?
  4. From HumbleBundle: I believe the spiritual successor from the X-Com series from the 1990's was X-Com: Enemy Unknown and X-Com: Enemy Within. Both the base game and add-on can be found on Steam. To the extent of spiritual successors, the 1990 X-Com: Enforcer, the FPS, was presented as The Bureau: X-Com Declassified. Did you get permission to create the game in the likeness of X-Com from the following? Mythos Games (1991-1997) MicroProse (1992-1999) Hasbro Interactive (1999-2001) Infogrames (2001-2002) Irrational Games/2K Marin (2007-present) Firaxis Games (2008-present) Also, did you ever play UFO games from Altar and publisher Topware? It seems rather odd that you bring this title to the table and deem it a spiritual successor to X-Com. X-Com is very much alive and the latest installments are amazing. And to have you state you are, "retaining all of the key mechanics of the original games". It sounds as though you are skirting along on the coat-tails of the originals.
