Switching to the Soldier Equipment screen and not crashing.

Is there any way to control your squad's arrangement within the drop ship when they are first deployed? I would like my tank to be first out the door, followed by my stronger soldiers, and lastly the new soldiers. If it isn't something that is possible to do in the vanilla game are there engine hooks that would allow a mod to do something like this?
