  1. There is another way around it now that i think of it - what if we break apart the exterior of the ufos into static multiple tiled blocks?

That way we could avoid the 2 parters and keep the originalUFO designs. Possibly this could also allow multiple entrances as well if some parts of a UFO are blown up.

As for the pancakes vs 2 parters, I'd take pancakes anyday.

The problem isn't whether the UFO can be split into multiple parts, it's whether it can feasibly fit on the map. And when I say thqat I mean fit on the map, and have other stuff on the map as well...

  2. Well I have never heard of either, nor have I heard of any of their games. I have heard of Nexus before though, so just goes to show really. I guess it didn't hurt that they got mentioned on game informer...

  3. Just to note, I have pre-ordered the game, so I'm just arguing for discussions sake. I think it will be good, I think it will be different, and I don't think it'll be what people who want to remember X-Com will like. And by that I mean it's hardcore fans. Which is a shame, because lets face it, without those people the game may not have been remade/reimagined.

Anyway, I've already said it, but XCOM honestly doesn't make sense at all from realistic stand point. Like for the example, why are world finest soldiers all "rookies"? Especially in original game where they can't aim. And wear ghost buster jumpsuits.

Well I always imagined it as 'rookies against aliens'. It's one thing to fight humans, completely another to fight giant floating caped pink orb man while he's trying to shoot at you, and your mind is being f*&ked from the inside, and you just saw your friend get shredded up by a giant insect, only to try and kill you, and then turn into another giant insect...

At least that's what I liked to believe =p

Also did you see the technology the ghostbusters had!? They had to be doing something right =p No but in all seriousness, bar the kevlar vest (which may do nothing to stop a plasma bolt), those cloth fatigues aren't so different from other military uniforms

Like for example, you say that them having classes doesn't make sense, but it doesn't make sense for them to be universal either, in real life there aren't soldiers who are good with every kind of weapon.

I didn't say it didn't make sense. I said it didn't make sense that you didn't know what every soldiers speciality was.

Even in the original not everyone was good with every type of weapon. You just had to read through their stats to find that out.

Also, aren't real life strike teams about 6 - 8 people anyway? They aren't 24 people squads as far as I can remember.

No, but might there be 3-4 strike teams that all arrive in the same transport? How you played was completely up to you. Some people never used all 24 men, some never used tanks, etc.

Also, you are calling it inflexible because it means you have to use different tactics than in original game. Thats not logical reasoning, in a same way I can argue that original is inflexible as its to an extent luck based whether you can make your soldiers survive because of such things as aliens killing units when they leave skyranger and such.

Smoke grenades help. I don't think you're replying to me so I don't really have anything more to say to that =]

  4. Ha ha no worries =]

I too am a little bit miffed by this decision, but it is a decision that Chris appears to have made, and so I'll do what I do every time this happens, try and minimise any negative effects!
