  1. In the final days of August, 1979, Earth is overrun. Crushed by overwhelming force, the leaders of humanity surrender to the might of unknown extraterrestrial aggressors. Immediately, the aliens begin harvesting both people and resources while constructing fortifications and strongholds from which to rule their new domain. The Xenonauts project, which had been established two decades before, receives orders to disband. But, refusing the order, they instead mobilize for war as humanity's last hope.

HOW DID YOU ENTER MY BRAIN?

I've been running a D&D game with this exact concept (based on Firaxis X-COM, 'cause that's what my players are familiar with) for almost a year now.

  2. I mess around with mods and stuff because it's kinda fun and I really like the feeling of successfully making far too many mods work together. Anyway, I'm just now back after not touching Xenonauts for a few months, and this Modular System seems neat, but I'm having some trouble working it out. Is there a tutorial or a FAQ or something somewhere that I just didn't notice?

  3. I like it! This was one of the features I missed most when I migrated from X-COM to Xenonauts. If you don't mind me going on a slight tangent, wasn't there a thing on the Kickstarter page saying they might have done something like this for pilots if they had reached enough funding? Will do you anything like that as well?

EDIT: Didn't notice this thread was almost a month old until after I posted. Sorry 'bout that.

  4. Cool. I'll give it a look, I'm always down for reading something written by a stranger on the internet. Although to be honest I usually prefer reading (and chortling at) fanfiction for things I don't like.

Are you going to be posting here again when you update, or is up to us to keep abreast of your work?

  5. You could self-publish. One of my favourite books ("The Best Laid Plans", by Terry Fallis) was released on the internet as a series of podcasts by the author before a publisher picked it up. Later it won the Stephen Leacock Award, and this past January the sitcom based on it premiered (admittedly, it's on CTV, but still).

    Problem?

There would also be the problem of the bear counting as a civilian in mission summary. :P

Pvt. Jenkins: Sir, all civilinas are dead, I repeat, all civlians are dead.

Cpl. Eales: Jenkins, are you blind, there is one still alive behind those trees.

Pvt. Jenkins: But, sir, that is a bear!

Cpl. Eales Cover the bear with your own body Jenkins. We cannot afford any more civilian casuelties.

    Pvt. Jenkins: ?!

Cpl. Eales: Now look Jenkins, you're a good lad but Brezhnev is threatning that the Soviets will leave the alliance if we let anymore civilians die. They are already on the verge, Jenkins. Last week a light Ufo scout terrorised Kamchatka cos we didn't think that it was strategically important and none of our interceptors can fly to that God forsaken place.

Pvt. Jenkins: But why do they care about a bear?

Cpl. Eales: It's about national symbols, Jenkins. The aliens are targeting national symbols... Most of Mother Russia's distilleries have already been destroyed. Without vodka, bears are Russias only reliable manpower...If we let bears die too... the soviet block will surely fall.
