  1. Expect the ports / Desura / Humble Store files to arrive in about a week or so.

    ccrunner - post up a bug report with the file and a bit of description, I imagine it'll be useful for us.

    I am so confused. I got on my computer and was all ready to upload the save file. I wanted to double check to make sure I was still getting the CTD (even though it happened 3 times in a row last night) and now the game got past the point where it was crashing and seems to be working fine.... I can still upload the save if you want though.

    I have never seen a bug fix itself before. Did you do a hotfix or silent patch at some point?

    Never mind it crashed after about a minute. I submitted a bug report with the save

  2. Hi All

    So I only play stable versions because I dont have a lot of time to play. I am super excited for this and just started a game. I went to my research tab after building my first base and I already have options to research alienium, alien alloys, plasma pistol, and plasma rifle. I havent even encountered a ufo yet. I dont think this is a bug. But why the early research options? I liked having to kill the aliens to take their tech and then use their own tech against them.

    In any event I am super pumped to play V21 Stable! Thank you Chris and everyone at GH!!!

  3. Hi all,

    I love this game but have been having some trouble after about month 2, when things really start heating up. I usually have one main base and 2 other 'air' bases of just radar and interceptors. I like to play with 2 shotguns, 1 sniper, 1 rocket guy, 1 shield, and either 2 lmgs and 1 rifle or 2 rifles and one lmg. I generally have wolf armor for everyone but the sniper and rocket guy and am working on laser weapons when I first have to fight a landing ship or terror site. Its at that point that I usually take massive casualties. In fact the only reason there were survivors last mission was because they sprinted back to the charlie leaving the wounded and killed behind. So I guess what Im asking is how do people prepare and fight the tougher battles. Especially the reaper which destroyed me last game.

    Also I dont have a ton of time to play so I stick to the latest stable version thats on steam.

  4. Hi all,

    So first off I want to say Im relatively new to the game but I absolutely love it. I watched a streamer play through it on V19 stable and I have been playing through it on v20 stable. This post is about how smoke grenades work in V20 stable and my thoughts. I apologize if this is the wrong place for this.

    I think the way smoke currently works (100% miss all the time) is A. easy to abuse and too forgiving B. breaks the immersion in the game.

    A)

    Currently you can pop a smoke grenade and advance 1 or 2 troops into the smoke. From that position they cant be harmed (except by an alien grenade which I have not yet had happen when completely surrounded by smoke). These two troops can then unload your choice of frag, C4, stun, or what have you. This will take out the alien with 0 risk to your troops. This tactic is highly effective. I was able to complete 3 missions ( scout, corvette, and landing ship) without firing a shot and capturing every alien. If you have made a wrong decision you can pop a smoke and almost guarantee the exposed solider will survive. I actually find it harder to kill an alien than capture one. That should definitely not be the case.

    B) I have a hard time believing that a solider 4 tiles away from an alien with a single tile of smoke between the two cant land a single shot from a lmg. The animation even shows every shot landing.

    Could I hear some thoughts on why the change was made to the way smoke works from V19 to V20? I am really enjoying the game and think the developers have done an amazing job but I would really like to see smoke go back to the way it used to be. I think there should be an accuracy penalty when shooting through smoke but the idea of smoke being completely impenetrable is a poor choice in such a well thought out game. It is smoke after all. Not bullet proof armor.

    Smoke is not armor and should go back to being an accuracy penalty similar to V19.

  5. Hi all,

    Is there a way to see what items have arrived to the base? I often have multiple things ordered and cant tell what just arrived without searching for a little bit. If this is not a feature would it be difficult to code in? Just add what items arrived in the same box that says items have arrived. Thanks!

  6. Thank you so much for your very detailed reply! I will give that a try. I think I need to rethink my tactics completely. I was doing exactly what you said and lining up right in front of the door with my shields and shotguns behind the shields. Im really not thrilled about how smoke works now. I will give your method a go and be a little more liberal with explosives inside the UFO. Thanks again!!

    Just two quick questions.

    I know Chris said something about trying to get a stable V20 out before the holidays. Any news on that front?

    Second. There are options to customize the names of soldiers and aircraft. Is there an option to change base names? Did I just completely miss it? If not is that something that could be added in? Id like my bases to be called something besides Alpha, Beta, etc...
