  1. But that is simply not true. If you take a negative relations hit for each one you do, then doing every mission will eventually crash your economy. I am going to put a disclaimer on this until Aaron comes back and explains if I am misunderstanding the entire mechanic as he said a few posts above, but that is how it appears to work to me right now and my economic situation seems to support that. the $50k you get for taking out a light scout is worth nothing when you factor in losing 75K in funding. Especially when you can get $20k of it for free and not take any relations hit. (I know these are pretty arbitrary numbers, just trying to explain my viewpoint. ) If I am misunderstanding the game (which is entirely possible, I barely had the game a week), then please explain how and I will go back and reevaluate my strategy.
  2. In all honesty, I clearly don't understand then. So when I do a ground combat mission and 3 civilians get killed, the -6 I get at the end of the round means nothing? If that is the case, then I am truly at a loss as to why I can't maintain an economy of any sort. I usually setup my base in the middle east to get the max amount of country coverage, and without fail I lose $100K to $150K in the first month. I usually intercept 90% of the UFO's in my area. Now, I understand why the Americas and Australia cut their funding, but why doesn't Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and at least part of the SU increase their funding? I assumed it was because I was doing the ground missions and taking a -2 relations hit at least for every one I did. If that is not the case, then I am at a loss. Am I the only one who is experiencing this? I may also just be a bad player or something.
  3. Impressions from someone who just started playing in 20V7: I can confirm the C4 not working. It does not damage property at all. Accuracy buffs are nice but I understand if they need to be tweaked AI seems a little stranger, a lot less aggressive if that makes sense. This may be in my head though, I do not know if anyone else has mentioned this. Air Combat is easier which is nice. Before I just couldn't seem to figure it out. National funding makes absolutely no sense to me. I started my game in the middle east to cover the most land, and I tried to shoot down every UFO I possibly could. I would say I got about 80% of them during the first month. The screenshot I tried to take didn't save for some reason, but basically the entire world reduced their funding with the exception of the Middle East and Europe, which stayed neutral. I understand the US, South & Central America cutting their funding because they got absolutely no assistance, but if South America can remove $80K a month due to unsatisfactory performance, then the Middle East and Europe should add at least $40K (total) to take some of the sting off because I protected them during the same time period. I know I've said this in literally every post I made, but there has got to be some kind of relations boost for ground missions. The economics just seem to be unsustainable. By the way, I am loving this game. It reminds me so much of the original XCOM. You guys are doing a phenomenal job.
  4. I just want ground missions to count for something, because as of right now across the two builds I played games on (20v7 and 20v8), I have yet to get a funding increase. I just think this is a huge mistake. Maybe make the ground missions count for half or even a quarter of shooting a UFO down, but it is just not fun when I think I am making good progress and the monthly report tells me everyone is lowering my funding due to unsatisfactory performance. As it stands right now, I am always fighting a losing battle. I am going to stop doing ground missions eventually because I lose more than I ever gain in soldiers and potential relations loss due to civies or soldiers killed. I just really don't agree with this design decision. I understand the intent, but it is the one thing that is holding this game back right now IMO.
  5. Hello, I have been following this game for a long time, I just made the plunge yesterday and purchased it on Steam. First off, the game feels great. I love the direction you guys are taking and I love the way the developers are interacting with the users to make changes and find solutions to problems. With that being said, there is one change that has quickly become my most serious complaint about the game. The fact that ground missions can only result in a negative score due to civilians killed needs to be addressed. I read through the forums and understand the changes were implemented in order to make airstrikes a worthwhile option, but in my opinion this change just takes away to much from the game. The mission ending screen provides a certain level of satisfaction, and to see a terrible rating at the end of each one just doesn't work. For example, there was a UFO coming in that I tried to intercept and failed miserably when all three of my interceptors got shot down. The UFO, however, proceeded to land nearby. I sent my crew out to attack them and we succeeded. I got a terrible rating at the end of the mission, and, much to my surprise, the country (USA) decreased its funding for the month a little later. I think Ground combats have to affect country relations at least somewhat otherwise the whole funding issue becomes a mess. I bought this game finally because I was watching a lets play on youtube (based off of V19 I believe) and the game actually looked like it was getting playable. I still believe it is very close but this change to ground combat and funding needs to be looked at again IMO. Thank you for your time.
