  1. 1: Load savegame

2: Kill the medium levitating robot thing that is viewable from the dropship

3: Move rocket launcher dude over behind log and shoot sebillian with the rocket

4: Rocket hits, I hear the sebillian making its hissing noise, but the rocket sprite never disappears and the sebillian never enters splatter animation. Program crashes to desktop.

This has happened to me twice now, with the exact same alien. Probably not a coincidence. Savegame attached.

  2. Not sure if this happened in v21 or one of the other recent builds, since I haven't played in a few builds...

It seems like a lot of aliens have gone back to their old 'camper' tactics in this build. That is, they chill out in the fog of war and hope one of your dudes stumbles into their reaction fire zone instead of actually coming after you.

While this may be a somewhat effective tactic in the context of the game's rules, it isn't as exciting or immersive (to me at least) to fight aliens that are just sitting around as it is to fight aliens that are out to get you.

  3. The praetorians seem to be able to fill half your squad with a feeling of dread, halving TUs. The range on this ability seems to be unlimited, and not require any sort of LoS, literally being usable across the entire map. Is this supposed to be as powerful as it is? The praetorians (smartly) stay out of range of your squad while all the other aliens are fighting. Because there's no way to kill them before fighting all the other aliens, these guys effectively result in you spending the entire mission with three quarters of your movement points (and the poor guy with a machinegun and 78 TU's is hardly ever able to shoot anythig, because the machinegun costs 40 TUs and he always has 39).

Also, is there an option to disable the popups that occur at the beginning of every turn with a feeling of dread? Since it happens to half your squad, every turn, you spend a lot of time being informed of something you will ultimately be able to figure out just by looking at your squad's TU totals.

  4. I approve. The aliens generally don't just camp and hope to get off reaction fire, but instead proactively come after you and try to kill you.

I did one alien base assault, I pushed in toward the first four way intersection and then suddenly found myself getting swarmed by aliens from three directions at once. After I finally managed to kill them all off in an epic firefight, it was quiet. Too quiet. I knew there were still aliens -somewhere-, but the search through the empty parts of the base was one of the most wonderfully creepy experiences I've had in a game in recent memory.

  5. There was a brief time when aliens would try to destroy obstacles that were in their way when they didn't have a clear shot at one of your squadmates. Why was this removed? Can we have it back? An alien using its first shot to destroy a wall and its second shot to kill one of your dudes is the difference between "huh, that alien was chilling out inside a barn the whole time I was slaughtering all his buddies" vs. "holy %( there's an alien there!"

Also, aliens being willing to deliberately destroy terrain when it is tactically advantageous (the way most players destroy terrain when it is tactically advantageous) makes them feel less polite in general, which is a good thing.
