  1. So... Question..

    I installed the game via steam updated to the community pack.

    Inserted the files of the mod and set the order of the mods correctly.

    The start of the game first like 3 missions I got my ass kicked.

    Then I started to notice the AI was not shooting me lol And then I noticed they have no guns.

    Apparently I forgot to change the Insert to replace..

    Is that the reason why the enemies have no guns?

    I just don't want to restart the campaign and have this happen again...

  2. Nice realisation of the buckshot. I love the shotguns now.

    The ammo consuming is more tight too. 2x spare shotgun boxes are a must even on small missions.

    AI is good. More punishing, sometimes unforgiving. You won't be able to do stupid things without the retribution anymore.

    The very first mission beat the crap out of my light-hearted approach. You have to think more now and this is wonderful.

    Got 2 CTD's though, one with the looking over arabic local forces' corpse, and one on the air combat.

    Overall this is the most interesting build i've played.

    And i'm able to set shotgun pellets count to 5! Awesomest!

    I believe shotgun is working like a machine gun burst with no delay between shots. Sadly, shotCount parameter that controls the, duh, shot count, is tied to the firing mode and not to ammunition type. Of course, it would be better to have shotCount where it is (governing count of shots in burst) and additional parameter, like projectilesCount tied to the ammunition (controlling how much projectiles will be in the one shot). That way you can make autoshotguns and rocket launchers with volley shots. But it requires more work to implement, i don't know exactly how much more.

    Also it's a mystery how the shotguns are shooting multiple pellets but consuming only one ammo. I've yet to found any info in the xml that will control this or at least indicate that "this is shotgun".

    So is there no chance of implementing ammo that when loaded fires the "burst" IE the buckshot. and does x damage.

    and implementing ammo that when loaded fires single shot IE the slug? dealing y damage?

  3. Yeah shotguns fire individual pellets that can hit adjacent tiles sometimes. It's more of a blunderbuss effect than a traditional shotgun (though the same enemy can still be hit multiple times due to the multiple bullets), but it's more fun than the previous single slug.

    And yes, the penetration of the shotgun has accordingly been reduced. It does a lot of damage but has very little armour penetration.

    Why not have both types of ammunition?

  4. You are right about the laser dish. If an alien is behind it, there is nothing one can do. You can't throw grenades over it and trying to go around is certain death - unless there is an adjacent room with a door from which the alien can be seen, IF this room has another entrance.

    What about the laser cannon? same issue there..

  5. Are you playing V18 Stable or the latest Experimental build? The aliens are much more aggressive in the base attack missions in the Experimental build.

    Damn! Forgot to mention played in the non experimental build!

    Was kind of scared of trying the new build because of the balance with the planes. But I guess it's time :D

    But the main issue is the radar dish and the laser canones man. Can't see anything next to them they don't even go transparent.

    Maybe if there was a button that made all walls and things transparent regardless if someone is next to them?

    And to clarify the radar and laser didn't go transparent even when my dudes were next to them.

  6. So YAY! did my first base defence mission!

    Was kind of awesome except for one thing. And that is you can't see anything that is next to radar dishes or Laser Cannons.. Really annoying! lost a damn Commander to that :(.

    Also please make the walls transparent or something. Because right now if I want to see what is next to a wall I need to move my dude there (unless you can turn your camera around lol if not then I totally cool with that only I was playing don't starve and I was sure you couldn't move the camera and bam lo and behold after like 14H+ of gameplay I moved the camera by mistake lol)

    Another thing some AI just stay where they are.. kind of boring come to me ffs attack me! meh whatever.

    Last is when you send a squadron and it gets attacked in rout after the success it tries to return to base. Very annoying since a city got nuked and because I'm in Iron Man well... Damn!

  7. I can understand why xcom2012 had it, it was because of perks but not sure why they do it here, as in the eu94 it was one of the things for me that they got spot on, it just feels wrong, immersion breaking.

    Same here.. It's weird have like 4 commanders etc..

    But if you do think about it it makes sense in that special forces units are mainly officers (In my country)

    But maybe we should have two separate things?

    Combat experience and rank.

    Combat experience would be received through.. well.. combat lol.

    And ranks will be something you could give out based on formal training maybe? Or the amount of units you have?

    Thoughts?

  8. Perhaps we will remove the auto-recovery on Insane, we've not made a decision on it yet. I'm not necessarily averse to the idea but the difficulty settings aren't something we're concentrating on at the moment.

    It's 4AM for me and I just registerd (something I loathe doing :) ) Just so I could comment on the subject.

    How about this. Leave the old system in of the crashing planes etc and have both options.

    When you start a new game allow me to choose difficulty. And then add another option of custom difficulty.

    Here I'm able to choose which systems I prefer on and off.

    It could affect many difficulty options not only the one about the crashing condors.

    To summarize since I'm real sleepy and there is a chance you misunderstood me just have more options that way everyone is happy :D
