Yes and no. You have two options:
1. Just use the my portraits and not the XML files. This will just replace the portraits, but the soldier pool will be the same as the vanilla game + pinetree's xtended backgrounds.
2. You can combine both mods by adding my new lines of code into Pinetree's XML files.
I also feel like these two mods would go really well together and I've thought about starting a new game with his mod and my mod installed. Let me know how it works out for you.

Yep, no problem.

Are you using Steam?
For the Armour mod:
1. Open the file you downloaded. As an example open the folder "Basic". Open "BasicMale". Copy "armour.png"
2. Find C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Xenonauts/assets/soldierimages/
3. Paste the copied file in the basic armour folder
4. Do this for all the armours you want to replace but do it in their specific folders.
(Female armours are under C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Xenonauts/assets/soldierimagesfemale/)
(Do the same for the females)
For the portraits please reference the Portraits thread. You should be able to just use Skitzo's "gamecongif.xml" file instead of mine.

Just skip my gameconfig.xml file and use his. The important files for my mod are soldiernames.xml, and soldiernamesfemale.xml which free the soldier pool.
I hope that helps.

Figured it out. Have to rename the new sound xml file to replace the existing one.
You just need to overwrite "sounds_gc.xml" (make sure you back up the original).
Did I name it something weird so that it wasn't overwriting?
-
I like many of the updated sounds. However, elite soldiers chatting while getting into position feels unrealistic, very amateur night. Not even regular soldiers talks while moving and this is supposed to be the elite! "Go go go" might fit when breaching something but not during normal movement.
Could you consider making an alternate version without the talking while moving sounds?
Yeah, it should be a really easy fix. I'll post another version later tonight.

Very nice! The fact that you drew them yourself make them even better.

When I started modding the game I wanted to change the "on-hover" popup of the soldier portraits on ground combat to just be on at all times, but they said it was hard-coded. If they could change that I would have liked to make a more RPG-like interface. They said it would be a simple change in the code, but I never heard back about the change being made.

Thanks for the input. It works for me with the custom folder but I'll try moving it to the audio/sfx folder if that's easier for everybody. Can you go into any more detail on how you were having problems downloading it?
As for the integrating question I've PM'd you a response.
Thanks for trying out the mod.

I hadn't thought of Xenopedia images. I'll look into it when I finish the Predator armour.

Thanks, Big Z! Posts like this are what keep me making and updating these mods (instead of playing). Thanks so much. I really appreciate the feedback.

If it's not too much trouble please add my two other mods:
Jsleezy's Real Fighter Portrait Pack - In progress - This mod was created to add a little realism and personality to the game. This is a re-placer for all original portraits.
Jsleezy's Real Fighter SOUNDS - In progress - Jsleezy's Real Fighter SOUNDS adds around 105 new sounds to the game most of which are soldier chatter.

Update:
Here is the video I promised (who knew making a 2 minute video would be such a hassle?)

Thanks to Tascruel for the tips. Also, my apologies for the big fat watermark.

Ah yes, sometimes it's hard to match the skin pigment. Only other option is giving everybody gloves. It's an easy fix if that's what people want.
-
Update:
I've uploaded the file on the nexus:
http://www.nexusmods.com/xenonauts/mods/3/?
I really feel like this is an un-found gem. If you're on the fence just give it a try and tell me what you think.

The previous hosting site went down, so yeah, this is just for accessibility. However, I am also working on the Predator Armour. I'll have that one ready in a week or so.
-
Thanks! There is a post on page 2 where I explain the process. I tried to match most of the portraits but there are some where I got a little too creative.
-
I have it ready. I just need to upload to the Nexus tonight. It really adds a lot to the game in my opinion that I can't believe Goldhawk didn't implement soldier barks on movement (probably low on cash).
I'm going to try and add a video so people can get a better feel for what it does. Does anybody know any good video capturing software that is free?

I like where you are going with this. You can never have too many mods so I say go ahead and try it out.
I would go with the option of having a character on the left the way they do now.

Can you please add "Jsleezy's Real Armors"
http://www.goldhawkinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php/6662-Jsleezy-s-Real-Armors
It's still in development. I'm working on the last armor. Here is a description: This mod aims to give the armors in Xenonauts a more military look.
I'll have my two other mods coming soon.

I'm trying to upload my mods to the Nexus. I'll update the thread once the link becomes available to me.

Update:
I have uploaded a version of the armor compilation into the Nexus. The game is still waiting approval. I will update again once the link becomes available.

Does anyone have a working link for both portraits and armors ?
The host site went down over the weekend. I will upload the mod for the latest steam build to the Nexus this week. The mods are not finished but I will hopefully get them all done this month. PM me your email address and I can send you the files for the armors mod.

In that case you're probably better off just using his XML files and just replace the portraits.
