  1. Yes and no. You have two options:

    1. Just use the my portraits and not the XML files. This will just replace the portraits, but the soldier pool will be the same as the vanilla game + pinetree's xtended backgrounds.

    2. You can combine both mods by adding my new lines of code into Pinetree's XML files.

I also feel like these two mods would go really well together and I've thought about starting a new game with his mod and my mod installed. Let me know how it works out for you.

  2. Are you using Steam?

    For the Armour mod:

    1. Open the file you downloaded. As an example open the folder "Basic". Open "BasicMale". Copy "armour.png"

    2. Find C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Xenonauts/assets/soldierimages/

    3. Paste the copied file in the basic armour folder

    4. Do this for all the armours you want to replace but do it in their specific folders.

(Female armours are under C:/Program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Xenonauts/assets/soldierimagesfemale/)

(Do the same for the females)

For the portraits please reference the Portraits thread. You should be able to just use Skitzo's "gamecongif.xml" file instead of mine.

  3. I like many of the updated sounds. However, elite soldiers chatting while getting into position feels unrealistic, very amateur night. Not even regular soldiers talks while moving and this is supposed to be the elite! "Go go go" might fit when breaching something but not during normal movement.

Could you consider making an alternate version without the talking while moving sounds?

Yeah, it should be a really easy fix. I'll post another version later tonight.

  4. When I started modding the game I wanted to change the "on-hover" popup of the soldier portraits on ground combat to just be on at all times, but they said it was hard-coded. If they could change that I would have liked to make a more RPG-like interface. They said it would be a simple change in the code, but I never heard back about the change being made.

  5. Thanks for the input. It works for me with the custom folder but I'll try moving it to the audio/sfx folder if that's easier for everybody. Can you go into any more detail on how you were having problems downloading it?

As for the integrating question I've PM'd you a response.

Thanks for trying out the mod.

  6. If it's not too much trouble please add my two other mods:

Jsleezy's Real Fighter Portrait Pack - In progress - This mod was created to add a little realism and personality to the game. This is a re-placer for all original portraits.

Jsleezy's Real Fighter SOUNDS - In progress - Jsleezy's Real Fighter SOUNDS adds around 105 new sounds to the game most of which are soldier chatter.

  7. I have it ready. I just need to upload to the Nexus tonight. It really adds a lot to the game in my opinion that I can't believe Goldhawk didn't implement soldier barks on movement (probably low on cash).

I'm going to try and add a video so people can get a better feel for what it does. Does anybody know any good video capturing software that is free?

  8. Does anyone have a working link for both portraits and armors ?

The host site went down over the weekend. I will upload the mod for the latest steam build to the Nexus this week. The mods are not finished but I will hopefully get them all done this month. PM me your email address and I can send you the files for the armors mod.
