Sorry about that. For me it was only the first one and I fixed it now.

Hey guys,
You can now try out Chaos Reborn prototype for yourself.
Try the web version of Chaos Reborn: http://chaos1.vm.bytemark.co.uk/ChaosReborn/client_web.html
Or download the installable versions:
Mac OS X: http://chaos1.vm.bytemark.co.uk/builds/ChaosRebornMac.zip

Windows 64bit: http://chaos1.vm.bytemark.co.uk/builds/ChaosRebornWin64.zip
They still need 40K+ to get funded and it's less than 7 days left. If you know anyone who'd be into this, please let them know. I really want to play this in a finished form : )
I've made couple of videos if you'd like to check out the gameplay instead of playing it (for whatever reason):
Thanks!
-
You're not meant to be able to play too far into the game pre-beta so this shouldn't be entirely unexpected!
I fully understand that, Chris. I'm not a hater : ) I love Xenonauts. You know me! (By the way, you actually do know me. We met at Rezzed and I spent about 45 minutes of your lunchtime asking you questions about the game : ) You were having chips with some yellow goo : P ).
I thought I could squeeze out more episodes and apologized for not being able to do it and for cutting the series short. Like I said, they will return with beta.
-
I bring somewhat bad news. The bugs got to me. As the game advanced, it started to crash increasingly more from seemingly random events (speeding up the time on geoscape, chinook returns home, trying to hire employees, any moment during tactical combat, etc.). While technically it is still possible to play and record, it started to take too much time. As much as I love Xenonauts and where it's going, I'm going to cancel this LP until a more stable build (beta?) comes out at which point I will reassign the names that I have collected and start anew. My apologies to everyone. Take heart - we will return victorious and squash the alien invasion.
Again, sorry for being too optimistic about this.

Love it!!
Nicely done...
If your in need of a new squad mate, feel free to use my name
Thank you! Wrote you down. New episode should be up on Monday or Tuesday.
-
It was. It felt like a pretty big accomplishment. Maybe that's why I can't stop playing xcom games since then. I'm just chasing that high : )
-
If you have a bank account you can get a visa or an equivalent in pretty much any country. Where do you guys live?
-
How far along into the game did you encounter your difficulty and financial problems?
-
I'd gladly like a meat-shield...er, I mean squaddie, named after me. Enjoy. Try not to rush me into my death too quickly unless I can take a bunch of aliens (or civilians) with me....hehe.
Aye! Your name has met the paper.

In my first X-Com game, the only delay in getting to Cydonia was because I didn't notice the bar at the top of the screen for an in game week The troops had a variety of kit. But I felt I had to go, because I had no idea what was coming next.
In my first xcom run I didn't manage to figure out how to use the psi stuff and took out Cydonia with laser tech. I was a bit on the younger side. Lost around 75% of my soldiers but it was worth it!

And here's the second part.

If your back kills you is that also a form of assisted suicide?
Sounds more like a murder in the first degree to me : l
-
Chill out, mercy. It's a great game and getting better with every build. Turn based strategies are not meant to compete with FPSs in popularity. And what you offer is neither more realistic, nor more exciting.
Also, I very much doubt that Firaxis is going to blow are minds away with their next DLC. Unless they'll finally fix the freaking MP bugs. That would blow my mind away. That's how low the bar is by now : )
-
Oh, apparently he wants wrapped in foil first.
Got it, unarmed, wrapped in tinfoil, killed every mission. Well.... at least foil is cheaper than tar and feathers these days.
-
All the additional names have been written down (I'm not sure about Gorlom's request, though : ) ) and here's the new episode for all to enjoy and/or feel revulsion towards.
XENONAUTS ALPHA #3: Terrorooororororororrrr Pt1

FWG, the tech tree doesn't exist as a list yet as Chris hasn't finalised it. To quote from his 19th Feb Dev update (emphasis added):
Cool. Thank you. I've read that too back then. I was just wondering if anyone has documented the tech tree that is implemented in the current build. And also that question about the alien containment : )
-
Another quick question. I did that research that grants you stun rods (xeno/alien biology?) and it mentioned being able to build an alien containment facility but that option never came up in the construction list. Is this a bug or is it supposed to be this way? And on a related issue, does the tech tree exist anywhere as a diagram/list?
-
Just had the most epic crash. Base invasion, aliens stand next to entry points (what else could they possibly be doing?), I roll in a tank, tank gets shot with something blue and big and as it explodes the game crashes. Talk about permadeath : )
-
Duplicate soldiers tend to be really buggy, e.g. you'll have 12 soldiers listed in personnel, which you'll be paying for, but 2 of them are duplicates, and when you put them on a dropship they'll take up 2 spaces but only 1 soldier will be on the battlescape. You could have the same soldier across multiple bases. I crash if one gets killed in battle. They basically become unusable. And if you try to fire them your game will crash.
Generally, it's a bad idea
Sounds grim. I'll report back on the scale of grimness when it occurs.
-
Written down everyone's names. My gratitude in return for your interest. Death has been rather mild so far. Here's the second episode.
XENONAUTS ALPHA #2: The Old Desert Is Wise

Another way to get soldiers is to wait until october, the list refreshes normally at the start of each month, but it will be empty after the first week, at which point you'll have to wait until next month (so stock up on some soldiers )
The good thing about this method is it's less likely to cause bugs down the line (I haven't had any bugs or duplicate soldiers with this solution)
Is there a reason beyond an aesthetic concern to be weary of duplicate soldiers?
-
Bug that has been with the alpha a long time. There is a workaround that lets you duplicate soldiers but it will cause other bugs down the line.
Thank you.
Found the workaround. Took the risk. Awaiting the punishment.
-
Quick question, y'all! Trying to hire soldiers, press hire, gives an empty popup and tells me to choose soldiers from a list. There are no soldiers there. Is this a bug or am I not getting something?
-
Nice, as soon as a slot frees up (i.e. soldiers die a savage death) you guys are in.
Unless you want to go by another name, I'll put you as thothkins and Commissar Pancakes.
Final mission. Bug or oversight?

I had a similar issue where I didn't destroy the cores but still managed to teleport away after killing the Praetor.
Here's the video:

My friend tried to do the same and encountered the same bug
Can provide save game if needed.
