Yeah, fair enough... and that's why this game shouldn't load that long, as the levels are far from procedurally generated.
I am far from being a expert. I am going by my experiences in games gone by.
And I would watch your tone with me Sergeant. If you take a look at my insignia, I outrank you.

It took me exactly 72 seconds to load the game's first ground combat mission (crash site, desert). Thats too damn high, if you ask me!
I think anything that is randomly generated will take a lot longer to load than something that's copy and paste.

Please, please make v20 RC stable for Christmas, I was so enjoying my game. Those aliens are tricky little blighters, they keep doing stuff that I'm not expecting, little blighters.

My game, except for the unassigned soldier thing is working perfectly, even after using a old save and spam loading/saving my ground combat. So I don't know what is causing these problems, but I best put my game on hold until things get sorted.

I was playing V20 Experimental Build 8 Hotfix 2 and am now playing the new build with my old save game without any problems so far. Have you vitrified your cache?
Edit: seems like I'm the lucky one.

I had like -3 unassigned, thought it was strange but then figured it was part of the game I didn't yet understand. Later it changed to 3, maybe it's troops hired that have not yet arrived.

I noticed at 1920x1080 the ufo's and crash sites never appear, and if ufo shot down by a country the helicopter goes there but hovers as there is no site to land on
Strange, I have the same rez and don't have this problem.

New build has just installed. I have been playing v20 for a couple of days and have had no issues, in fact I am finding the game f****** brilliant. Thank you for this latest update, you have made my Christmas warm and fluffy.
I like the new loading screen, very pro. I bet if you put V20 in for re-review it would receive a very nice score.

I have to say that you have the air combat smack on the button, it's fantastic, and is a really fun part of the game now. I could play the air combat all day long.

It may be a good idea for when you press to resume a saved game, a 'loading' message appeared. It does feel like the game has crashed without any conformation that your save is loading.

Oh, there was one other thing that I nearly forgot. Back in them old days gone by, I could never get more than 5 minutes play time before a game stopping crash. So any newcomers to the game can think themselves lucky.

Yes I know. It's like ages off, ten whole full complete days, but just remember who wished you a merry Christmas first.

Thank you Chris and team for giving us Xenonauts. I can only imagine the amount of blood, sweat and tears that it took to get this far; But now, there is light at the end of the alien infested tunnel, the last nine hexes, you can see the extraction point.

I am hoping to put a build up tomorrow, and depending on how much new content we get I may do another next week. After that Goldhawk is going into winter hibernation until after Cthulumas.
A nice stable build please. You wouldn't want to spoil my Christmas with bugs in my present now would you?

Commander Chris, you will have to let us know when the final Christmas build is in. This is going to be my Christmas game and I mean to play it to it's end, but waiting for the last build before the holidays.

We knew what we wanted it to be, but what you were seeing was the competing pressures of trying to releasing builds that showed our community visible progress whilst also actually making that progress. Until the game gets close to completion, you just gotta have some of this:
It is of course much harder to be confident that you've made the right investment in the early stages of development, but ironically that's when the team need the money most. You kinda gotta throw your money in the pot and hope the team don't screw it up
It's true, I did have very little faith, mainly because of the complexity of such a game, were many have tried and many have died. Could you really pull this off?
I think what is more important is that it all worked out in the end, and hopefully yourself and the team can carry on making games, and people like myself can carry on buying those games.

As I remember, it went through a lot of 2 steps forward and 1 step backward motions. It didn't quite know what it wanted to be.
I remember my first game. I was expecting aliens and space crafts, but what I got was gangs of hoodies hanging out round a tatty old shed smoking weed.
On reflection I suppose these were the first aliens scouts in disguise.

I am glad to hear that air combat is to get some love. It's my only spoiler in what up to now is a bloody good game. I also love how the game is so mod-able, this should keep it alive for centuries.

I have it at 1920x1080 and not had one Crash of any sort over many hours of play, Nvidia 770.
Do any of you update your .net using windows update? I remember this caused the same type of problem with a game once.
