  1. when your guy gets shot out of the dark can another alien see him... and can you recalll if they were cesearians or sebs

Usually it's the first dudes, the ones with the white heads that use to wear hoddies. It has happened when a alien is in view and after that alien has been killed.

Also if one of your soldiers has a alien in view the shot from the dark can kill a soldier that has no LOS with the alien in question. It's all a bit screwy.

  2. I was losing a lot of my squad members to shots from nowhere. I did see where they were coming from, and sometimes back tracked to kill the little bleeder, but he was miles into the fow. I mean my people may as well have been falling over with heart attacks for what little I could do to prevent it.

I'm not moaning though. There is always something about a game that some of us don't like. You just have to get over it somehow.

  3. Absolutely. My tactics in X-Com boiled down to "we'll choke their rivers with our dead!" While that was fun at the time' date=' Xenonauts can do better than that. Shields being that much more reliable is really good. Do you not use them, Moonie?[/quote']

I did, until one update they became made out of candy floss and would disappear in a gentle breeze. I believe they are once again useful.

I just need to know where this shot-from-nowhere is going, before I play again, I had to stop, I was getting angry with the game. :)

  4. Some people do want off-map shooting. So as usual, Chris is stuck between the ones who do want it, and the ones who don't.

Oh well, not much us No's can do about it. The Yes's must be catered for. :)

The comment were he said how a alien shot come from somewhere on the map, and hit something near by, so I would assume he then would duck for cover. Having that happen is one thing and may add to the suspense, but I see no rhyme or reason to instantly losing a man/woman to a magic shot, except to piss the player off.

  5. LOS? I think it's the FOW distance that is the problem. Aliens seem to see further and can target soldiers without any comeback unless you close the distance to them. I really think any fire should reveal the firing units position and/or at least let your sniper have a much longer sight.

I think what is happening is that all aliens have squad-sight. The problem here is that they should only have squad-sight if you have sight on at least one alien, and if that alien should die then all other aliens should loose squad-sight. But this does not seem to be working as it should.

  6. Getting 'no fun' killed a lot. One reason is, all aliens seem to have squad sight, even after any alien having you in sight is killed. Result is, critical shot fired from miles into fog war are instant death.

There is not much point in using tactics if you get instant killed from anywhere on the map with LOS, without ever seeing what or who is shooting you. It would be better if after you have landed, just inform player all your squad is dead. Killed by enemy unknown. Game over.

  7. Kill or die. Is that tactical or just pew, pew? :)

This is somewhat like Xcom in classic mode. Instead of adding more aliens (maps to small) or improving the AI, they opted for critical hit, and accuracy bonuses for aliens.

I'm not bothered about this as long as they remove these bonuses for easy or normal play.
