Yeah, I've noticed this as well. Sometimes a right click will do it, sometimes I have to hit ESC, which really doesn't feel right.
I thought so, and your right it doesn't feel right.
Chris! What's going on with the right clicky thingy?
-
Are you suppose to be able to deselect your first aid or aiming cursor by right clicking anywhere that's not a target? If so then it's not working for me.
-
I just had to pop on here to let Chris and team know that I think the game is flipping fantastic.
I have been holding off since Christmas, waiting for a stable release, and now that there is, I started to play in earnest.
You seem to have finally got the balance and atmosphere just right. I don't think I have ever enjoyed a Xcom type game so much since the original.
You have done a fine job and you should be proud of yourselves at achieving such a splendid final result.

When ever I install Xenonauts through steam, I always end up with a blank shortcut on my desktop.
Seeing how the game is now released, a nice sexy 'working' shortcut is imperative.
-
Which version 1 should I play, this version 1 or the version 1 before version 1, or the version 1 before version 1.5?
Congratulations.

I've never seen a backpack large enough to hold a riot/ballastic shield. They should never have been allowed in the backpack in the first place.
I would imagine that modern military shields would be foldable, and have sharp spring loaded spikes that pop out when it's unfolded.
-
Can we not have bigger backpacks for our shields?
-
So the end is near? Congratulations. Five years to make, a lifetime to enjoy.

i find steam ok. never had too many problems myself to call it poo.
so what makes steam poo exactly.
yes they slap on loads of very old games and stuff and some games need tweaking before playable but i got that from hard copy formats.
If you look at there discussion forums you will see a lot of very upset bunny's of late. Steam has many problems that only seem to be getting worse. They have been disconnected on and off for most of the week.
I wonder what would happen if steam closed up shop tomorrow, or sold Steam to MS or Facebook, what would happen you all of your games?
-
@xep624. The game won't be released on GOG. When Goldhawk approached GOG... two years ago now? Back when the Kickstarter for it was anyway, GOG clearly said they didn't want Xenonauts because it was going to cost too much ($25). I doubt that policy has changed since then,
I think things are a lot different now. I hope Chris give's it another try. Steam is poo, and Desura is to darn slow and messy.

I second the request for a GOG version. I will buy it again from GOG, because I love that company and always buy from them when I can. Not only do you get a drm free copy that you can truly call your own, but you also get lots of goodies, and great support.
I never was a fan of Steam, and I don't like the way that Steam is heading.

I know it's probably not been changed but I think the soldiers panic far to easily. This is one of the really silly things I found with the Xcom EU/EW game. Trained soldiers don't wet themselves at the first sign of blood. (Love the blood splatters btw.)
I completely mod the panic out of this game as I don't see it having any part to play.
-
Completely random point, but for some reason I really like the blood-spatter animations on hits. For such a small addition, it makes a huge difference for me. Odd.
Next, brains and guts splattered all over the place. 8/

Personally I love the new machine gun system. With 10 shots now I have good incentive to use it, while at the same quick ammo drain does not make the weapon overpowered. It has its own distinctive niche rather then being yet another flavour in the arsenal.
Generally the last balancing changes made the game even better. Much appreciated!
I agree with this post. ^^^

Yeah, the civilians seem to get more involved in the action now. Kind of brings things to life.
I am liking this build, except for my big gun (MG) being pretty useless unless stood still. And sometimes not being able to target aliens in buildings and ships.
-
Heh. Ironically, the civilian running into the UFO is probably an example of the AI working well but doing unexpected things as a result. Civilians don't like open spaces where aliens might shoot them, so they find small enclosed spaces to hide inside. A UFO is a nice enclosed space, and the AI doesn't know there are aliens inside the UFO until the civilian actually goes inside and sees them.
Agreed. Unexpected and funny things happening, are what makes a game REAL fun.
-
so a civilian runs into a ufo....
I had one running around my ship, I think he was robbing it. Bloody looters.
-
Game play's nice again. I didn't come across any one shot sharp shooting aliens, and enjoyed myself.
One thing, I found I could not target aliens when in a building.
Really like the new mission screen.
-
I think Chris is just trying out ridiculous stuff on us like the alien super shot, to find the border line between challenge and enjoyment. It will get there in the end.
-
Thanks for the tip.
Also, on another note, while trying to breach a light scout I threw in a flashbang and my person standing near the door got hit by the very far edge of the blast took 6 damage and got a bleeding wound. Unless we are using some super flashbangs with built-in shrapnel, it shouldn't give my own soldier a bleeding wound. Has anyone else experienced that yet?
Yep, flashbangs can be grenades. I threw one in a alien ship and it blew them all up. A bug I think has been around for quite a few builds.

'Alien accuracy reduced by approximately 15 points across the board'
Yeah! You have made my day!
This could mean that it's now possible to kill a alien before it kills me. That would be excellent.
Dead soldiers are now dead? That's just plain cruel. Dead soldiers should only be pretend dead.

The experimental 4 is quite stable. I played for many hours and it crashed only two times.
Now then, I would call that wobbly rather than stable.

25 years ago I remember being in a Newegg Store in north Seattle and chatting about computer games with the other customers.
We were trying to find one that would be fun to play. Someone would mention a game, say it was ridiculously hard and then we'd all ask 'well, is there a hack for it to make it more playable'?
Funny how some things don't change.
So true. Many times have I seen a similar situation.
I have a little observation that I made from steam forums. Those that are usually screaming that a certain game is to easy, usually don't even own the said game.
Anyway, I think we have gone a little off topic.

This is usual these days with games that are under development. On one side you have your casual player, who just wants a fun game.
And then you have your braggers, who like to order the hottest curry in the house.
The braggers usually win, as most will rally to the flag of machismo, and the poor casuals have to wait on the modders.
