Did it break the immersion in the OG? Because it did the exact same thing, just without the pop-ups.
Trickery, darn trickery. Just kill the pop-up.
-
Moonie, here's Chris's considered opinion on your point with researchable items.
Personally I think it's a pretty large thing posing as a small thing. It kills the immersion stone dead. At least wait until the chinny has landed.
It's like we are going out on snatch and grab missions.
-
Lovely stuff. Thanks.
-
Was this not to be kept as a feature? Justified by information being sent to your base from the retrieval team at the crash site (see End of Mission screen for a look at them). After all, it's not as though your chinook is lugging a power core and a UFO hull home.
Whatever, it is to quick, to quick. They would have hardly had time to wipe the green blood from their hands, never mind retrieved a 100 ton of artifact. You have to keep with the immersion.

First play through and only found 3 small bugs. No crashes or hangs. Fantastic.
1-Footsteps sound intermittent.
2-No throw animation when knelt.
3-Research on artifacts starts BEFORE your Chinnie returns home.
Game is very playable and enjoyable. Great work.

Dunno. It can't hurt to overwrite it I suppose.
-
At least we can download the hotfix while we wait.
-
Still no download. "£$^%^&^*ing b""$%^^ need shooting, or sacking, or both.
I want my 18.3 and I want it now. What do we want?
-
I hate desura so much I want to poke it with a stick.
-
Donuts all round,..my treat. We have great cause for celebration, on this, our most memorable day.
Whaaaaaaaa!!!!
Not to worry, soon be on steam, and then we can put Desura out to pasture.

The best games ever are/were turn based. Turn based rules baby, long live turn base and death to rts -bull.
Turn based games are for real men that swing in the wind. RTS is for little pink teddy bears called Wendy.
-
Something makes me shy away from this one. Think I will play the waiting game.
-
I always knew that when the team got serious with the bugs, that this game would get hot. Very hot.

I surrender, and have pledged to satisfy thoust vile demands!
Thou shalt sleep soundly and not fear the shadows in your dark slumber, for it has come to pass that you have done the right thing and the kingdom of battleisle awaits you.
You know it makes sense.

NO NO no! Not another Kickstarter!! I only just signed away my life for the Flash Point: Extreme Danger board game expansion, and you wave this in front of me!!!!! Begone vile temptress!!!!!!!
No, listen to me. You must have it, you have no choice, it is your destiny that it shall be yours.
If you were to resist then, thou shalt break out in pussy boils and wake up with ones head stuck down the toilet bowl.
buy, buy, buy, support, support, buy, now, support, buy, buy.
When you awake you will remember nothing of this conversation but will be a supporter of Battle world Kronos. Congratulations.

Looks pretty damn cool. I'm terrible at that sort of game, but pretty cool regardless.
Yeah, it is. I played Battleisle as much as I did UFO-EU and Xcom, if not more. It's one of those classics that never get's old or you ever get fed-up with.
I have been waiting a long time for someone to do a remake, and this one looks top banana.
-
Will you look at this. I backed it without question. It's a must have.
-
The announcement is here somewhere but I think this little gem will be more relevant to your interests.
Well Ill be buggered, that is good news. No more desura agony, how utterly charming.
Do you think that our dead smart medals will get ported over to the steam forums?
-
Now why would they put it on greenlight when they already have a deal with steam
Well I didn't know that. When did this happen?
-
For me, it's the first time I have actually been able to get down and enjoy myself playing the game, as bugs would always bugger up my fun in some way or another, there are still bugs, but it is now playable. So I also give a huge codus to all of the dev team!
I am frikkin loving it. Get a stable beta on green light, and this has to be popular. Don't know if this is possible, but it would be a great spring board for the game.

Now we are getting somewhere. Finally; the true birth of Xenonauts is upon us. Polish your boots, clean your guns and don't forget your sunglasses. Time to kick some alien butt comrades.
-
is this project has a due date?
Yes. It's something like December 2010.
I think that Chris made the mistake of thinking this was going to be a easy game to make, when in fact it is one of the hardest games to make. Even the mighty Firaxis had to sacrifice 50% of the games content, were as Chris is attempting to add 110% of the games content.
No easy job.

I thought I'd read that the autoupdater files were updated to v18. Am I mistaken on that? Desura informs me I'm up to date and I've got v17.91 showing in my launcher. I'm also getting hay bales in the chinook.
Desura is fail. You need to DL the standalone version. http://www.desura.com/games/xenonauts/download
Then merge the hotfix.
I will be glad when we can get this from Steam and sack Desura.

From the days of the alien shed, the game has taken many turns, twists and additions and held more bugs than I would care to count. But looking and playing it today I can see that Chris and the team are finally in sight of bringing us a great and stable game. That done, then word should start to filter out and gain the interest of the thousands of frustrated UFO'ers out there.

No need for the pop-up really. I always check my labs, workshop and soldiers when back at base.
It should be a simple fix for this rough edge.
