Don't forget the memorial "wall"
-
one time with 3 mag turrets, 2 missed and the last one shot down the big ufo

What makes you think it would have a trigger especially if it is Alien, perhaps it may only be activated by thought or sound etc...
except they DO
This discussion is starting to verge into the realm of personal insults. I'd like everyone to take a step back and chillax.More like into paradoxical euphoria.
It's getting hilarious ;P
-
But it's ALIEN! You can't research ALIEN! because you can't kill them because they are ALIEN!!!
-
Its ALIEN technology.
Alien means that it is completely alien to human beings thats why its called ALIEN technology and thats why it should be researched, because a human would not know how to use ALIEN technology.
It is ALIEN to humans just as the Aliens themselves are.
The big clue is in the word ALIEN, when something is Alien to you.
Actually you got a point, it's ALIEN. To be fair a soldier shouldn't be able to know where to shoot an ALIEN, because it's ALIEN!
We shouldn't know how to kill an ALIEN!
So, the game it's totally unrealistic, our soldiers should duck in despair or run away every time they see an ALIEN, because it's ALIEN!!!!
-
In Xcom Ufo Defense one had to research the Alien Weapons Technology before being able to use the Alien weapons Technology!
Obviously the developers had good reason to make the game that way!
Obviously!

When it comes to Alien guns it could be that once the gun leaves the Aliens hands it immediately drops into `safety`mode. Perhaps their Tech is advanced enough to have that. Would kinda make sense too.
Or they could self destruct... oh, wait, i think that someone else already did that....
bottom line, they do not.
-
Accuracy penalty is due to being anatomically unpractical for humans to wield the weapon and pull the trigger.
PS: I was pretty sure that you weren't able to reload alien weapons. That actually could be tricky.... but i don't think that those weapons were designed for rocket scientists
-
If you like things simple and less complex and shallow then good for you.
I thought the soldiers we recruit had at least basic combat training... if i'm wrong and we are recruiting accountants you got a point.
-
- look on which side of the weapon the aliens are shooting you from
- point that side away from you or your squadmates
- figure out which is the trigger
- research done, good luck!

Well, i am willing to try Alpha or beta patches myself, all i want is the Option to decide myself no matter WHERE i did buy the game. There should be no difference between the platforms. Just provide a experimental patch in the Forums...
The official GoG Patch for example is 1.07 while the experimental is already at 1.09 meaning 1.08 is ready, isnt it?
No, 1.08 has actally been skipped (or better reverted) in official releases due it's problems.
If you're willing to be a guinea pig, you should read the forums with more attention.
Steam just make easier and faster for devs to release experimental patches, without hurting the "stable" users, than other platforms.
It's just the way it is.

just for clarification, is the final door supposed to shut down if it takes a shot, until you clear even the side generators or is it an istance of this bug? (killed everyone but une of the side generators rooms... and reapers ) 1.07HF

Very interesting reading!
I'm happy that everything turned out well.
While Xenonauts is not perfect, it's very very much enjoyable, in a way that didn't happen to me for a game in a very long time.
Good luck with your next project, i'm sure that with what you've learned with xenonauts you're gonna do some wonderful piece of game.
PS: You didn't put enough stress on one of the best design decision i think you've made: to make it as much open to modding as possible (last but not least your opening to comunity coders). I think that this will single handing grant you a long lasting success and fame.

also predator armor breaks *open* doors

Since 1.07HF the "hidden" side' side door of a carrier is invisible and unable to be reached until the front door is open/blowed up.
I'm pretty sure that i was able to see it and build a 3-way assault to the carrier in 1.07. If i'm wrong i was on 1.06 (or there's a slight chance that i've already blown up the front door back then, but i really doubt it, because with HF i noticed the lack of sight on the hidden side as soon as i've apporoached the UFO).
I also got an alien out of that hidden door once, clicking the red icon centered the sceen on that side, but i was unable to see or target him.
edit: Changing elevation doesn't help
Savegame attached. As soon as you blow up the front door with C4, the side door make its appearence.

i'm trying to reproduce it today, but i'm failing.
edit: happened again once, but failing to reproducing it reliably, looks related to the path of the ufo

anyway, it isn't like the interceptor doesn't have range to engage, because if i engage manually it works
-
I've seen it with marauders chasing carriers/battleships. It is generally when the interceptors lagging slightly.
i was marauders vs carriesrs too
-
I've noticed this too, and I think even before 1.07HF
I'm not totally sure about 1.07, but i'm pretty sure that it worked in 1.06 (i'm still playing my first complete playthrought, it started with 1.0... so i've pretty much played throught all release versions very slowly... )
-
Granted, this thread should probably be in the bugs forum though.
Unless it's intended, since valkyrie's particular way of dropping soldiers
I still didn't understand if it's working as intended or not.
-
I noticed the same thing since the HF, i think it worked fine in 1.07.
Now i always have to engage manually.
(Win7 version)

have you considered their squad sight?
-
-
It's just me or since 1.07 HF the "covered" small door of a carrier is not visible anymore until you enter the ufo?
I remember to have assaulted a carrier in 1.07 and i was able to see thath door, and coordinating a 3 way attack into the carrier.
Now i've attacked 2 carriers but i don't see anything in the "dark side" anymore, not even an alien exiting that door (but i see the visible alien icon).

Xenonauts V1.51 Experimental Released!
in Xenonauts-2 Releases & Patch Notes

No, that's not been included.
That's too bad, it's a big feature for the "ambience" for the way Xenonauts (and any x-com inspired game) is played.
Luckily we'll still have the CE, so whatever, but i consider it a big missing feature for the "vanilla" Xenonauts.
