Update: Fired my game up after returning from my cousin's graduation party, took a scout UFO and obtained its power source. Now i can research Alenium. So it was just my derp, i forgot the tech order. Thats what I get for playing with little sleep. Consider this topic closed.

Hello everyone, I've been trying to do normal Ironman and have had several restarts. My issue is ,in my previous attempts I was able to research Alenium as soon as I got some, out of a scout for example. I would try to rush this in order to get wolf armor. However, on my current playthrough i can't seem to research Alenium despite having 8 in my store room, any idea why this might be?
