  1. Fancy uniforms aren't gonna get done as it's just way too much work for what it brings.

You can move a soldier while another is moving. Group moves aren't really suited to TBS.

Weapon customization isn't gonna happen. It's not really worth doing if you have a decent sized arsenal like in Xenonauts.

Yes you can suppress some aliens. Lots of burst fire usually does the trick.

  2. Does anyone know how to skip the tutorial without using 1337 haxing skillz? I wanna play the 2nd mission again without being tortured by Captain Hopeless.

FiraXcom and XCom are not comparable games, they are separated by 20 years of UI, game play, and accessibility developments and improvements. FiraXcom is what XCom would be if it was developed now as a AAA title - and that's exactly how I've approached it.

Firaxis played it safe. :( And the UI is horrible. They really went outta their way to make it worse then the original.

There's a reason why they put you in charge and made him #2.

    He's probably a casual gamer.

I want to have him executed for his incompetence, 40K Commissar style.

  3. I just played the demo. I can see the game being fun and I probably buy when gets a bit cheaper but, it does feels like a watered down XCOM. The one thing I really don't like is the aliens moving once you spot them. Do the alien "mobs" move around the map? Or do they just sit and wait for you to find them? Sounds boring, I wanna be zerg rushed or something. I assume the aliens in Xenonauts will do this. And I'll miss Saving Private Ryan Syndrome as well.

And I hate having small squads a lot more after playing too. I WANT MOAR MENZ TO PLAY WIV GODDAMNIT!!!

And the sniper being move-or-shoot. And FFS commander guy why the hell would you not put the sniper on the roof.

  4. Also, also, it seems (from the demo, but correct if you have better sources) that we won't actually a full globe as our playground, but merely get/have to chose between a hand full of missions each time? The demo had this "Help north-america OR help asia" thing going on, that would really, really ruin the game for me.

I think that how it works, at least that's the impression I got anyway.

  5. I like the idea of keeping mediumish UFOs as is, that breaching moment is fun and it keeps things shorter.

To explain away making the large UOFs two part missions, there could be increased defenses/armor etc on the doors that would have to disabled by a specialist team (or a breach made) on the larger UFOs that aren't present on the smaller ones. Thought that makes a little less sense if you've shot a big one down already I suppose.

In UFO: Aftermath, you had to research a way to get into UFOs because the aliens used a teleporter to get in and out of the UFO.

  6. Does that mean you're going to increase the size of medium UFOs?

To heighten the tension for this method; any aliens not killed in the outside map may spawn in the entrance area during the alien turn. This allows you to rush through without clearing as long as you accept the risk of getting shot in the back.

It'd be simpler to just have the aliens count as having escaped at the end of the mission. It's gonna be hard to run past them all as they should be smart enough to protect the entrance.

  7. I don't like the idea of a two-part mission every time. I feel like that would add unnecessary length to an otherwise fast "very small" mission. As others have mentioned, the seamless transition from outside the ship to inside is fun, and allows the player to really control the field. Whether you've got one squad securing outside and everyone inside the UFO simultaneously or if you like to guard the doors of the UFO until the outside is clear, you'll be happy if it's all one part. I think it would also be confusing to a player at first if they saw the UFO and couldn't enter it.

Only the large UFOs will have 2 part missions, I believe. And the mission briefing screen should tell the player that the mission is 2 parts.

After thinking about it a bit, I don't think 2 part missions will be that bad or lose that much tension, if at all. I remember playing UFO: Aftermath, which had 2 part missions for UFOs and it was very claustrophobic being trap in that alien tin can.
