I was hoping it would but the problem remained and my savegame is from 0.34.1. I seem to be getting only massive ships now so it's not such a big problem anymore. Do you think a new walkthrough won't have this problem? Thanks.

Same here. All large industrial crashsites have been the same at least 7 times in a row. I am also using the steam version and I started this playthrough on the last RC for version 34. The savegame has two industrial crashsites which should be on the same ground combat map which is on the screenshot. I am using the mods that are activated with the Community Edition by default.
