  1. But why would you ever not use burst fire in that system?

XCOM:EU uses very small small magazines and firing burst (suppression) leads to a lot of time-consuming reloading. It works.

Detection mechanics would also be an option. The more often you shoot, the more visible you become to aliens.

Every shot adds maybe +2 tiles to the range at which you are seen by aliens so you get more return fire. A sniper gets to fire higher power rounds so gets to deliver more damage accurately without a lot of the disadvantage.

  2. The OP's tone is a bit over the top but it succeeded in getting some responses so it probably was intentional. =)

And the suggestion / complaint wasn't to have a single OP weapon.

He criticised the complete lack of imagination in weapon mechanics when moving from tier 1 to tier 2 to tier 3...

Plasma weapons are hot stuff. They start fires and a hit has a DoT component, damaging something for 1 or 3 turns afterward.

HV weapons overpenetrate without destroying destroying the actual cover. They only punch tiny holes like in

    .

Lasers could simply be more accurate. You just can't beat light speed.

    *shrug*

  3. If you want to avoid a flame war, you ask. First. =)

A side benefit of that is that there's a chance you'll actually get some support or creative feedback that way.

With my X3 scripts/mods I added a "Rules and permissions" section.

That would make things easy but the Xeno modding scene isn't quite big enough for that to be a major issue. =)

  4. - More Distinction: While the Scimitar remains a fair upgrade to the Hunter, it does not 100% replace it. While boasting more armour and HP, the Scimitar loses TUs making it less mobile. The Hyperion combines the best of both, however, possessing goof durability and movement.

So the mod becomes pointless when the Hyperion rolls around? Why?

I suggest adding a "Scout Scimitar".

When you have researched the Hyperion, the Scout Scimitar becomes researchable. That is then a direct upgrade to the Hunter while the Hyperion is the tanky type.

This way you keep the choice in the game.

  5. I should probably make armour upgrades just make buttons open one by one and boobs bigger and bigger...

You could do a series of mods and "upgrade" them (as above) every few weeks or so, basically claiming a top 5 slot in the "Best Xeno Mods" for eternity.

    Another approach:

Giving the male soldiers more of a Cool Bad Boy look with torn sleeves and Hulk-worthy muscles.

Reality can go cry in a corner.

  6. Assuming you mean the v1.13 "patch":

Enemy units in JA2 move around the strategic map just the same as you do.

They can reinforce sectors where you attacked and partially wiped them out or conquer sectors back entirely.

Only the maps themselves are fixed.

    But.

I use the Arulco Revisted mod which changes things around quite a bit, adds larger (and more) maps, and makes it a bit harder to cheese the game too easily.

  7. Morale checks are just a dice roll and not affected by your tactics in any way.

I also don't think it's realistic to try to keep everyone far away from any alien. After all, the aliens may eventually come after you.

The only useful tactical countermeasure that this leaves is unequipping everyone's weapons.

It is unfortunate that this is implemented in such a click-intensive way but it is logical enough to not call it an exploit.

  8. I understand very well. I just don't think that my opinion matters so I'm suggesting something that does not affect the current balance at all.

    Everyone wins.

It already works like that and it is balanced by the TU cost and and you forgoing reaction fire.

No other game mechanic is available to counter psionics in any tactical way so this is it.

It really is just a UI improvement.

  9. Psionics are balanced as far as the boss is concerned so there is no point in arguing.

The current UI mechanics are part of that accepted balance so I'm only asking for the same thing with greatly reduced clicking.

It wouldn't require more than a hotkey and code. No special UI, no special function to reserve the TU... it's intended to be inefficient.

  10. I take it you don't feel the changes have worked to make psi powers more balanced then?

What I suggested is merely a UI improvement because you can already do that manually. It's just a terrible chore to do so.

The UI for the throwing of grenades has also been greatly improved over the original game so there's a real chance...

This even has a tangible cost attached to it. Costs about 8 TU and prevents the use of reaction fire.

    And yes, I'm serious.

Barring that, an Autohotkey script could do something very similar but it wouldn't be as reliable or elegant.

  11. Can we have a hotkey or button that puts everyone's weapon in the backpack and automatically takes them back out at the beginning of the next turn? (space and TU permitting)

Psionics wouldn't be so bad if the only defense wouldn't be so such an enormous number of boring and repetitive clicking.

  12. Jagged Alliance 2, v1.13 has hotkeys to overlay visibility / cover information on the map.

In case of Xenonauts, pressing the hotkey would fill the map with colour-coded symbols for how hittable every square is from the pointer position.

If you move the pointer over an enemy position (or suspected enemy position) and hold the hotkey, you get to see how well each square would be covered from that direction.

A buggy / unpredictable cover system is workable if you can tell in advance how it's going to work.

Then the game is "fair" because you made the decision to move there.

  13. I still can't swallow fact that same those people claim that mods "destroyed","killed" game.I mean how is that possible when mods are optional and the only thing, that keep game "alive")

Some people fear that vanilla ice cream may no longer be sold at their favourite grocery shop if 3rd party strawberry and chocolate ice cream get too much of a market share.

I may be a little crazy but I have trouble understanding that much crazy.
