  1. Hi Chris (and the Dev Team). Could you guy us a very rough estimate of when EA will be purchasable? Obviously I would not hold you guys to it. But I am hoping you guys would be willing to give an estimate which is realistic in Goldhawk's opinion. Whenever I have money it has the tendency to burn a hole in my pocket. I wish I could purchase Xeno 2 from you guys right now. I don't mind not being able to play it. I just want to know I'll have it when it comes out.

  2. Chris. I want to suggest a mid-late 1950's setting. I think it would add a massive charm to Xenonauts.

    Roughly speaking:

    1957

FBI/Bureau/X-Files inspiration but still obviously a war game.

    Equipment:

    1950-1965 military tech

1950's style equipment (not exactly the same.)

1961 Grenade Launcher, Thompson, M14, Post WWII Rocket Launchers, etc

    New Enemies

Pro-UFO Cultists (As in X-Com Apocalypse)

UFO's based on the 'Inter-dimensional Hypothesis.' Aliens come through portals and appear semi-Supernatural

The IH is a strain of thought in modern UFOlogy popularized by Jacques Vallee, John Keel, and Terrence McKenna. (No I'm not claiming I believe in UFO's.)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interdimensional_hypothesis

This actually was a massive selling point for me with Apocalypse.

  3. I would like to have garrisons which are not useless. I know that originally it was possible to train your troops outside of combat. I think it is ridiculous that it was removed from the game, regardless of any potential problem of making the game 'too easy.' It's hard enough anyway. But it annoys me that an extremely logical thing to do, training your troops, cannot be done.

  4. How obsolete does technology become over time? It seems to me that small arms, firearms and rockets, shouldn't become too obsolete as in RL a breech loading rifle in 1880 and an M-16 in 1980 make you equally dead. Do you end up with all energy weapons at the end of the game or is it a mixture of energy weapons and conventional arms?

Are there any mods which reduce obsolescence and if so, are they worth using?

What about aircraft? Can Condors be used at the end of the game?

Also, how are garrisons handled? I've been looking at youtube guides and reading forums to try to prepare myself to not get my butt kicked in Xenonauts. I assume garrisons have upkeep costs. Do garrisons get new technology as well?

  5. Does there exist any tutorials for modding? Preferably easy to understand and short but if length is necessary then it's fine. Is there a way to make sure I don't disrupt the game's balance if I change stats other than the lengthy process of playing Xenonauts until I figure it out?

  6. I see.... What exactly is wrong with the engine may I ask?

I have been working with my C++ book today and I'm getting very discouraged. I have a laundry list of learning disabilities and psychological issues, lol.... >_____> It is very hard for me to memorize and understand the content of this book. I would love to help you code but I don't know if I am going to be successful in learning C++. At this rate my prospects are seem grim to me.

  7. I don't feel the need to replicate the soul of X-Com though. I like the base game but I also would like to change it. I understand your point about X-Com as compared to football. However, I am not viewing Xenonauts as a board game or sports game. My idea doesn't destroy Xenonauts. I'm not trying to make diehard X-Com fans angry I promise. I wish I was one. someday I should go play the original X-Com, but complicated games are very difficult for me. Xenonauts is much more complicated than football or a board game. Please don't shoot my proposals down because it isn't exactly X-Com.

I'd like to also add that my ideas put forth here are inspired by X-Com, particularly the setting and theme, but not strictly the gameplay, though what I've said doesn't vastly change the game.

  8. Even Ce Coders cant add so much different assets and with those assets you would leave the old UFO feeling. You want something much more tactical/strategic things to add. This game is not successor of XCOM 2012, it's X-COM from 1980s... the original one. The original one didn't have what you said here...

Yes I know it is a successor to the original XCOM which Sadly I haven't played yet.

Xenonauts is 20 years newer from X-Com from 1994. The coding is new and better. I don't know if my idea can actually be done or not.

It may not be strictly within the spirit of X-COM 1994, but I think it is still very interesting. It could be added to A: make the game a bit easier for noobs, and B: it could have an option which causes an equal reduction in funding. In other words, A powerful nation which has it's own defense/research program against the aliens will pay you less. However, I think the latter would be much too difficult to balance.

Additionally, I don't want the game to be easy, but it would be nice to have some small crutches here and there, especially ones like my idea which adds to immersion and is not merely a flat bonus of some kind. I love games but I'm bad at them lol.... Never have been good no matter how much I tried. Naturally I don't want to dumb Xenonauts down either.
