  1. Hot potato grenade roulette missions perhaps??

    Snakes on a skyranger lol

I had an idea for a mod for EU years ago, I isn't a brilliant idea but could be fun perhaps.

    Clean up mission.

All the civilians in the area has be infected with crysalid embryos you have to contain the outbreak torch a good percentage of the buildings on the map and kill all the civies before they turn into zombies or hatch out into crysalids. You could also try and stop them from leaving the mission zone but the mechanic would be hard to implemented. There is no coding in the game which asks you to use fire t destroy a certain % of the map so it would have to be brand new coding. I'm not savvy with programming I wouldn't have a clue what is involved. (I did used to program my amstrad 464 with ready made scripts out of amstrad action magazine would spend hours typing hundreds of lines of code to find that there is a typo in the magazine and you get a dreaded syntax error on the last few lines of code)

I wish I had got more involved back in them days, maybe I could have been part of an awesome project like xenonauts :(

  2. Another disturbing image, so if you don't like disturbing images, please don't click the spoiler.

Project TURNCOAT interim report, 17th October 1979

I am pleased to announce that work has progressed ahead of the revised project schedule. We have entered Enrichment phase B, which builds on previous work. In Enrichment phases A&B test subjects are drugged using a alien-compliant synthetic derived from LSD, and exposed to a variety of high-quality visual images, coupled with a mixture of ultrasonic and infrasonic sounds designed to impress the images on the subject. The initial images and sounds in phase A are designed to break down and depress the subjects' sense of self, as much a cult might break down a new member in preparation for its teachings (but compressed into a much shorter period of time). In phase B, the images and sounds are designed to fill the gap made in phase A with a new set of basic-level social and mental triggers. Subjects that complete both phases A and B will be primed for interrogation by other staff and possibly repogramming to become agents among their own kind.

Pleasure/pain conditioning is being trialled as an alternative to drug sensitisation as balancing the increase in sensory acuity with mental stability and biochemical/neurological compatibility has been far more difficult than previously expected. Work into exploiting the telempathic link between Caesan subjects have been shelved to concentrate efforts on producing stable, primed subjects.

Please find attached to this report a requisition for more subjects. While I understand this is a sensitive matter, the less than ideal conditions that project members have to work under necessitate higher burn-through. I point out that this projects' worth has already been proven with the valuable information passed on to project CLARITY regarding toxicological and neurobiological processes for both Sebillian and Caesan subjects.

    Henry Green,

    Project Director

Addenda: I append the list of recently deceased subjects.

Subject C12. Adverse reaction to batch 10, sudden cardiac arrest.

Subject C13. Catatonia (complete withdrawal), euthanized.

Subject C14. Irretrievable state of amnesia, euthanized.

Subject C15. Toxic overdose (batch 10b), no response to recovery methods, asphyxiation.

Many thanks for the feedback from CLASSIFIED. You're swell, guys!

    "Leave me glassies........LEAVE ME GLASSIES!!"

  3. When Xcom was newish, I inserted ALL of my school chums and people who were on the school bus with me etc. I remember my brother foolishly placing me inside one of them pyramids on cydonia. I got blasted by I sectiod on TU reserve. You coculd say I threw a bit of a tantrum. (I was only 10)

  4. Yeah, they're both going on about MJ12 and everyone else is going "Hey guys... there's 3000 of them in orbit.

    Lazar: There really is UFOs

    Everyone else: Yeah, we know.

Lazar: They're in Area 51! Really, really secret... but I saw 'em!

    Everyone else: Yeah, that's great.

Lazar: Hey, what do you mean "we know"?

Everyone Else: Look up, man. There are 3000 of them in orbit.

Lazar:... errrmmm... but they're aren't as special, or as secret as the one's I saw! I can help back engineer things you know!

Friedman: Obviously the 3000 are in a secret pact with MJ12...

    Pure LOL

As it goes in my EU2012 game I have Art Bell, George Noory and George Knapp form coast to coastAM. I also have Crypto hunter John Rhodes (thinks he is hot on the heals of Reptoids and lizzard men that live inside the earth's crust) I was gonna have ols stanton Friedman myself, oh and that Richard Dolan and wait for it................. X Ministry of defence ufo desk "whislteblower" (that is still yet to blow any whistles) Nick Pope.

Seriously though I would rather listen to Bob Lazar's bull craporamma than Nick Pope talking about the same old boring stuff yet again. He never had anything good to tell in the first place.

  5. Is there room for a Bob Lazar as a rejected scientist from the labs and forced to man the front lines for being full of crap. Or maybe a Stanton Friedman for laughs.

  6. I got it on a PC gamer demo disc. Demo was pretty cool, had snakemen and crysalids on a terror site. From yhat moment onward I knew I had to play the full game.

One thing I remeber when I bought the full game was reading the instruction manual on the bus home. Since I had no idea of the depth of the base management side of things I was like . WOW.

Game was a stunner all the way.

  7. I only picked it up the other day, it has it's god bit for sure but I too am let down by the linear story thing going on. Also the buy/sell not being very xcom either. Everything said in the OP is exactly how I feel TBH. Some parts of the game are really nice, but other bit really let me down. Thank gawd XenoMonkeys is here to save me.

Oh what did everyone think of the German scientist and the old engineer dude. Funny stuff.

AND I did notice when you produce a lazer rifle, the cut scene in the firing range has a sectoid form the original as the target, same goes for the plasma but it is a muton as the target.

  8. To be fair EU 2012 is okay(ish) it certainly isn't anything like Xenonauts is gonna be. EU2012 just sems so linear in many places although I have only had it a few days.

BTW OP are you using any mods to fix up the un finished coding etc. Also you could make the game a bit more fun in places. Please forgive me if you are 30 steps ahead of me. :*(

  9. TrashMan reporting.

White male, Assault or Support. I prefer rifles over shotties b.t.w.. Also stick me with flying armor later on if I survive long enough to see it.

B.t.w. - I reccomed you use Extended Warspace mod. It re-balances the game to be MUCH better.

Extended warspace mod? how comes I have never heard of this one. I thought I had modded the crap out of EU and even tried some of the hacks too. i'll look it up

    :)

oooh it xcom 2012, i bought it yesterday as it goes

  10. You gotta love the transparency of GH, you just don't get this kinda thing with the mainstream title, it's disgusting the way you are treated by say EA/DICE or 2K.

I'm loving how this game has come along. I have been watching someone's videos on youtube and it is great how far this game has come since I first caught wind of it.. Keep up the fine work lads. MWAH MWAH

  11. Don't think I've tried that one. Guess I'll have to check it out.

You haven't played terror from the deep or sebs ufo extender? Either way you need to check it out. Terror from the deep is basicaly "xcom with bubbles" (quote from the review a had when I got the demo floppy disk back in 95/96) but it has been made a bit harder, like the research tree has changed and some of your weapons can only be used underwater. Indeed you should check it out. Its only £2.99 off steam or I found a free version of it for dosbox aswell.

  12. Hey team,

I've just finished of the first part of my marathon run on xcom, and modded the crap out of EU(no cheats). A mod that I found really handy was sebs ufo extender because it added some really nice useful stuff. I'm wondering if anyone knows of anything simlar available for TFTD?

Failing that is it possible to use the PSX soundtrack for it as I did on EU?

  13. As for the aliens revealed, there's Caesans (tall sectoids that wear clothes), Sebillians (regenerating lizardmen that wear some armour plates) and Androns (really tough humanoid robots that don't wear clothes at all).

    Edit: Oh wait, there's this:

    Bit old now though.

Awsome wicked kewel. I thnk I made the fatal miskake of calling it a remake earlier. But never the less this reimagining looks very good indeed. The new xcom game thats coming out should have really thought about what the x-com community really want before sinking a load of cash into that FPS project. Aparrantly one of the devs says that he's a long term fan of the game and has tried to incorporate familier features to it, like using time units to command your squad when you slow down time. Also there is research being put into it aswell but it still is not what true xcom fans really want. Not to mention taking a huge dump all over the xcom timeline. I will be looking forward to playing xenonauts with great anticipation. Long live turn based gaming.
  14. Hi team I am a long term XCOM fan, infact from the first day I played the floppy disk demo of ufo eu in 94/95 I loved the crap out of it. Nowdays i'm still playing eu and tftd with all sorts of mods and junk installed and was holding my breath for a remake to come along. I had heard the xenonauts name banded around the net for a bit but assumed it was another multiplayer remake. But reserching myself has brought me to believe that this is what I have been waiting for all these years. Is this true? Can this be a true xcom clone. I have had a little search around but can't seem to find out what sort af enemys there is going to be. Are they gonna be sectoid and muton like creatures or are they ganna be more like in ufo et. Silly question anyway I can see from the hype generated from this forum alone that this is gonna be a awsome remake and i'm gonna deffo pre-order at the end of the month.

If anyone has any good video referals of this game that will make me quiver, link me up dude I need my fix.
