I played through on Normal with extensive air war savescumming and moderate ground war savescumming. Point by point:
1) I agree that reaction fire on door opening makes a ton of sense and I endorse its addition. I'm unsure about your difficulty scaling. Is there an existing reaction fire scaling factor on various difficulties for other tasks? If not, this could be a strange asymmetry.
2) No strong opinion.
3) Makes sense. Unsure on specific numbers.
4) Disabling autoclosing on the big door would be fantastic.

"I don't get a gun?" "No, instead take twelve fusion grenades"

I guess my guys just got really lucky when they tazered that reaper.
-
It's lower.
-
Crusher's right.
-
Sweet. Thank you, kabill.

This looks solid, but put headers on that table so people know that the numbers represent priority.
-
You do?! God dammit! I wish I'd known that. No wonder they haven't been getting any beefier!

How difficult would it be to edit the TU cost of:
- Moving equipment in and out of hand/ground/floor/belt?
- Turning in place?
- Crouching?
- Standing up (as opposed to crouching)?
-
I noticed this when I was flying around - moving diagonally in the Buzzard armor through the air costs the same as moving axially - i.e., I can move north+east one tile at the same cost of moving north one tile. DnD 4th edition this isn't!

So we could just make B = 100 and C = 0, or B = 0 and C = 0, to create enforced recovery or death. Cool.

"Survive Unless Exploded" would be also be nice, but, y'know, baby steps.

I'm pleased to have spurred such engaging discussion.

It would be nice to just automate the gaming, so that all troops boosted str and tu after each mission.
-
That's how I got MY reaper, which is really what inspired this idea.
-
How difficult would it be to alter Sebellians and Reapers to automatically take a swipe at anyone who approaches to hand to hand combat range? Beating those poor bastards down with stun prods is starting to feel like cheating.
-
That would be enough to enable the two most obvious changes, Always Survive and Always Die, so that'd be a great start.
-
Yes please.
-
Is that on the list for the CE?
-
Thank you! I'll do that next chance I get.

I'd like to triple the resale value of laser weapons, infantry armor, etc. Can I do that with xml tinkering?
-
Is this really a CHEAT, per se?

I dont know if it would be appropriate. My aliens dont only looks to be traffic laws violators, but also environmental activists, feminists, defenders of marijuana legalization, a racial minority and some of those left wing and anarchists radicals that cops loves to beat. I'm already planting cocaine on their UFOs to justify in the press my forcers violent attitutes towards them. Imagine the loss of credibility if the image of one of my soldiers sniffing some cocaine fall on the internet. They are only allowed and encouraged to blow in the barracks, before deployment. I dont want to kill another reporter because someone slipped and was photographed sniffing the implanted evidence.
You're a good man, Victor.

After referring to my horde of riot-shield+stun-rod rookies as 'a horde of coked up police brutalities waiting to happen' to my friends, I realized that I can't actually coke up my rookies before I send them in to violate the rights of an illegally parked scout ship. This is terrible.
Could the game engine support an item which was held in the hand and consumed, which boosted morale and changed the odds of a morale failure event to lean towards 'berserking' rather than 'panicking'?
