I started a new game, then immediately, before placing a base used the esc menu and loaded a save.

The mouse was still in the "place base" mode with the radar showing, and clicking on a land mass brought up a "base name" popup. Going into any of the other screens and back to the geoscape didn't clear the problem. Accepting the name actually places a new base... even though i didn't have enough funds (seems to validate funds when you click "build base" not when the base is placed, which is circumvented this way). Funds actually took leaving a negative amount in the balance... (doh)


once placed, reloading the save had no problems...
