  1. @l35a - well, if we were going to release it today the game still would be exactly like it is today - the game you can play right now :)

    We wouldn't have got any extra work done in the intervening time...well, maybe a little more due to the looming deadline, but not much more. It's just we've decided to continue development work for another couple of months before releasing the game, which can only be a good thing.

    Will future patches destroy my save games if I start playing now?

    thats the million dollar question

  2. From the master of psychological manipulation:

    • The ability to keep and re-use alien weapons picked up in subsequent missions. (Have them show up in Xenonaut's Load out screen)
    • Melee - Knives and throwing knives (Close Quarter weaponry)
    • INTERNAL Base Defense Upgrades: Automated Turrets and The ability to close blast doors.
    • The ability to Create YOUR OWN Xenonaut Soldiers from game start.
    • Differences in Xenonaut Uniform sprites to Indicate ranks (Same as the Aliens have different sprites)
    • Flash Bang (Blind for a turn)
    • Ammo types - Armor piercing / Explosive.
    • In game progress graph at monthly report.
    • Poison DOT grenades.
    • Hologram Decoy Double.
    • Hades Bomb - Fire grenade that lasts more than 1 turn.

  3. So the current system is far more than something as static as you get x move and shoot once.

    And MRXNY I have seen you post several times that you dont like this system but you have not really made any suggestion other than go back to how it was... .

    Since everyone is waiting for my suggestion other than "Change it back".

    For all you Beef Stews, Misfits, and Undertakers out there.


    My Changes:

    1. Abandon All time units.

    2. Make Soldiers Level based (1,2,3 and on) Gain Exp from kills, completing missions.

    3. Completely level stat increases across the board when you level up.

    4. Break the Abandoned TUs into (3) stats. 1. Shots per turn. 2 Moves per turn. 3. Equipment use per turn.

    5. Add to +1 (Shots per turn. Moves per turn. Equipment use per turn) at pre-set balanced level unlocks.

    (Example) At levels 1-5 you can only shoot 1 time, Levels 6-10 you shoot twice.

    Now you just took away all those formulas, square roots, and percentages.


    I still support my original "Simply change it back".

    I still support soldiers you grinded getting stronger and shooting more. (That's what you protect them for)

    I still support a solider that's been on 25 missions being able to shoot his gun more than a rookie on his first mission.

    I still support being able to Shoot, throw a grenade, and move ALL in the same turn (My goodness , theyre just a bunch of Zeuses running around out there)

    I don't care if Aliens shoot back at me a lot. (I use riot shields, cover, safe distances, and smoke)

  4. Also worth mentioning, with a diminishing returns system it be VERY rare or impossible to ever have a soldier that could fire more than two "normal" shots from any weapon other than a pistol. .

    You can post all the formulas and square roots you want. It all goes right to the same point.

    Like I said before:

    Why cant the developers just admit "They only want you to shoot once per turn".

    Its like you built a mansion to cover a dead body instead of just leaving the body in the dirt.

  5. This is a great idea. It feels more realistic, balances the game out more, and still allows for progression.

    You could just be polite and nice. Yes, they 'owe' you a finished game along the lines of what was promised. They don't owe you the specific game you personally want configured exactly to your taste. And the rather small amount of money you sent them does not make them your bitch nor give you the right to treat them impolitely. Humans aren't sold so cheaply nowadays...

    You only pay $20.00 to go see it? So you pay an even tinier amount towards the total product.

    Critics are on national television telling you to NOT go see it. Are the actors on TV crying about it?

    When IGN rates a game poorly - do the developers post in the comments, "Pleasseee be nice to me" ?

    Call of Duty gets changed based off Rage complaints - Black Ops 2 made over 1 Billion dollars- So all arguments should be over after that sentence.

    They take HARSH criticism, listen, take it like men, and respond.

    I want the game to be better, be more fun - I've been a pc gamer since the Apple 2C.....

    These guys cant take 1 joke about Xenouats being put in the Recycling bin, gimme a break........

  6. There is a difference between an opinion and an insult. I guarantee you that if you tell anyone that their years of hard work deserves to go in the garbage (rightly or wrongly) you aren't going to have much luck getting them to listen to you. Not to mention this is an experimental build and many of the changes may not make into the release version. At least he is willing to listen to the opinion of the community regarding proposed changes. That is not true of many other developers. Several of my suggestions have made it into the game and well as those of many others.

    I never said the Whole game was garbage, just the recent Tu % change.

    What world do you live in that everyone says please and thank you ?

  7. Worst patch I have seen, ever...

    Seriously, who thought this was a good idea? Such a drastic overhaul of the combat system was not needed. Just fix the TU costs of some things, play with mitigation/armor here and there. I thought we were at the stage in the game where we were deciding how to balance things?

    I was very excited when I loaded up the game and saw there was a new patch.

    I was honestly expecting the game to be complete or damn near close.

    It makes me question you guys judgment at this point.

    To make that drastic (And total crappy) change to combat at this point in development is SCARY.

    It shows you have no confidence - and - to me - the TU % makes the game unbearable.

    It reminds me of a few patches back when you made it so you couldn't move and shoot in the same turn with the tanks.

    Whoevers fantasy it is to have the game like that - Just drop it already......

    and by the way - Auto loading rockets doesn't work anymore.

  8. Here is a list of things that are need to be fixed.

    1. Vehicles need their time units restored.

    One shot per turn with hunters sucks. My tanks wind up being scouts that get killed every mission because by the time I can see an alien I'm out of TP and killed on the aliens turn. You pretty much cant Move and shoot in the same turn.

    2. Bring back the Riot shield at new game.

    The stun rod is now useless because you cant get that close to Aliens without a shield. I used to have a soldier carry 2 riot shields and lob C4 packs or use 2 shields and then smack the aliens with the stun rod.

    3. Change the money system back to the way it was

    On my current play through I'm dead broke. I have 1 base, and I don't have any money to by any upgrades. I cant shoot down anything other than small ships. Payroll is killing me each month. $200,000 for an extra lab is crazy.

    4. Bring back the floating Damage indicators

    I have no idea of how much or how little I hurt an alien, or if my soldiers took a bad hit or a baby hit.

    5. Reduce cost of Hunter tanks back to $50,000

    I always have 3 hunters for when my base gets attacked, but $100,000 a piece bankrupted me.

    6. More small or very small alien ships needed

    I cant afford ship upgrades and the only ships spawning are large or heavy fighters. Add in more small ships like it was before, so I can do some missions earn money and pick up items to sell.

    7. Electric shock grenades still do nothing

    I hit an Android with 3 shock grenades, nothing and blasted my guys to pieces on the follow up round.

    8. Frag Grenades and Alemium grenades got nerffed too much

    I'm carrying 40% Smoke grenades, 40% stun grenades, and 20% actually grenades - Fine if your fighting organics, but I had a mission with all Androids, and I got ripped to pieces.

    9. Alien shotgun no sound and insane distance.

    The Alien "Shotgun" shoots halfway across the map with a huge spread - its not even close to fair.

    10. Aliens Line of Sight needs a major nerf ASAP.

    I have to send my Hunter tank in as a scout just to find aliens, and then it gets ripped to pieces.

    11. Aliens are shooting right through my smoke grenades

    Ridiculously unfair - it almost seems broken.

    Things I like and should stay:

    1. Stun grenades and Stun rockets power boost.

    2. Selling new items for cash.

    3. Allied ground forces in Terror missions actually kill aliens !

    4. Increased grenade range !
