For the small bases I would bring six soldiers + hunter. For medium and large bases I held off until I was able build the Shrike. Then I brought ten soldiers + hunter.

Well, maybe it's time to bring the Hunter or a Scimitar.
I'd recommend it on any base mission.

OK, you know how the first big room in the small base has around six bad guys in it? Well, the first room in a large base has six, then the next room which is nearly the same size has another 20 bad guys and more tickle in as the battle continues. I even drove a Hunter with laser cannon in there and ran out of ammo and there's still 10 or so left and my soldiers are all dead. Oh, and a lot of them have plasma shotguns...
This is why I don't even bother trying to clear out medium or large bases. Too many soldiers get killed in there. The small bases aren't too bad because once you've dealt with the first room, where the bulk of the aliens seem to be, it goes fine. My method of choice has become using a hunter with the laser like you mentioned. Then using the soldiers to mop up.

No, you're not losing it yet. Personally I'm glad there isn't more than one reactor... the large bases always have between 30-40 aliens in them. Well armed I might add.

OK, well, I just seemed to remember two in the small base. I guess I'm just old.
Before they redesigned them they, or at least the small base, did have two reactors.

Aren't there TWO reactors at every base?
From what I've encountered all three size bases have only had one reactor in them.

Are large bases the only opportunity to capture this games version of the Ethereal? Because if that's so that really is grating, I would rather sweep and clear Battleships and Carriers than bases, side note, is there any ships larger than those two?
Battleships do have one Preator on board, which I also prefer to deal with instead of large bases. As far as the large bases are concerned I just head for the reactor, then leave. Otherwise my cautious approach would turn it into a 2-hour + mission.

Dismissing the soldier does not help, just leaves you with one space less on dropship.
I had this same issue today. A possible/temporary work-around that finally worked for me was I unassigned everyone from the Charlie, then decommission it. Then bought a new one. May not work for everyone. Several times the game would CTD when I would try to unassign soldiers.

+1 for this bug as well. It was on a desert map on the upper level of a building. As soon as my sniper took a shoot the game CTD. Reloaded the game and it did it a second time. Third time I did not use the upper level sniper position and everything worked fine.

Never ending hidden movement after three turns. I could not get save, obviously. I can't really play the game if I can't finish a terror mission. I noticed that the Reapers are back in terror missions. I wonder if it has something to do with that. I hate to say it, but right now it appears that 19 Stable is less stable than 19 SC3.
I just wanted to confirm that I had a Terror Mission hang too after turn 1, except mine had Androns and Light Drones. After I used CTRL+ALT+DEL to shut the game down it did work okay upon a re-load.

Thanks for answering that gentlemen. My main reason for asking was to find out if you could actually finish the game. Apparently close, but not yet.

Has anyone managed to research & build the Valkrie?
Or it required to get to the Final mission?

I've had this happen on a few occasions too. When you first see the deployment screen the game does a "Autosave" for you. Usually when I reload the game it'll work.
