Perhaps you need to actually enter the UFO? I don't think that should make a difference, though. Sounds like a bug report would be useful.
nah. entering the UFO and staying in it for couple of turns does not do anything.
Im not sure if I should report is as a bug since I dont know whether or not its intended

More often than not I fail to secure a crashed UFO/terror site. I kill/capture all the aliens. I dont loose any troops. All locals are OK, but in the end I get ZERO point for securing the UFO i.e. failed to secure. Sometimes I do all things things mentioned above and get my 100 points. No difference in action, but two different results. And even if I reload the battle from scratch I dont get the score! Its like, the moment it loads the battle for the first time it is predetermined whether or not it will award me my points.
I've been playing for quite some time now but I still cant understand the conditions that I must fulfill in order to secure a UFO/terror sire.
Is this a bug? Or do I need to do something to secure a UFO?
maybe taking a dump on a bridge will do the trick:p
ps searched the forum but couldn't find similar inquiry, only ones with crazy huge +/- final score

sometimes during the air battle it lunches two battles at the same time : one controllable, on top and the other uncontrollable, (like when two overlapping windows are open on a desktop). The whole thing is accompanied by a strange version of air combat music - as if the same track was being played twice at the same time.
I believe that bug usually happens when you have two squadrons engaging two UFOs on the Geo map. Then one of squadrons reaches the UFO it lunches both battles at the same time and as a result you either lose one due to lack of control or you crash to desktop
