Well since they need to destroy your central command, Ive already tweaked my base so theirs only 1 way into the command through a radar room, but it would be cool if the alien base's had "kill zones" build into them that the aliens would use, kinda like I have prepped to used against them in mine : )

  2. no way, I love this new air combat system, I usually take my 3 fighters send em in three directions (if the ufo turns to fight) see who the ufo going after and have the other 2 flank while the other plays bait.

    Much better, more control, and will a little bit of tactics my jets never get a scratch xD

    and aliens fighters try to wolf pack one of my jets anyways so its just a little more tense and a little longer dog fight but still good fun : )

  4. Ya you guys got it right, with a SAW (which I think this weapon is supposed to be even though its a pic of a 240Bravo) you fire from the hip when moving, (and pray and spray) or hit the ground (Kneel in this game) to suppress and "walk rounds in on target"

    if it is a m249 saw, damage should always be the same its just a question of does it hit you, make the damage the same as the ballistic riffle since they fire the same round, its just one is mag fed the other belt fed

    Saw should have more the just 'burst"

    snap shot should also be in there and be like a 7 round burst at 25 ap maybe?

    burst should be like half the drum or 25 rounds at 45 ap

    some one may have answered this already, but how do we in game set up "burst length" if we are going to go that rout? : )

  5. I say 2 part for big ufos and up

    bases...clear the outside, then inside

    big space ships are like that to, (remember UFO and TFTD? ship took up the whole map more or less), it should track your entry point into the space ship when you transition to "all troops inside" so if 3 go in here, and 4 here, and 6 there, they show up in the right spot inside the ship

  6. ya i agree, bodies would go before gear,

    laser weapons would burn through the target, but its built to burn through body armor right? so would the weapon hold up?

    plasma is the 4th state of matter...well nuff said it vaporizes everything

    ballistic weapon and explosives...ya they can mess up a weapon

    but the weapon needs to be hit for this in every case, as it stands the weapons are always destroyed when you shoot an alien.

    Disarming an alien with a shot should do reduced damage to the guy whos weapon just got merked and only happen like 1% of the time

    explosions get more...complicated...is the blows up guys body between the weapon and the blast? was the weapon between him and the blast...what about the gear on his back x.x

    maybe just make it if it kills the target you have a 50% chance of wiping out his gear with explosives?

  7. giving things inf fuel and range is EU

    back IRL the more fuel.... the more weight.... more weight eats up more fuel.... and at some point your so heavy the bird couldnt leave the ground.

    this way is more realistic,and if the countries are going to have fighter jets they send out, they need a location they are going to pop up from anyways,

    so now losing a nation would mean also losing both air cover and a refuel as you pass through the area to get to targets normally outside of your range like a terror site.

    Hmm I would like to see us able to "para drop" troops in...no way to end the mission but to win, takes 2 hours after mission for the troops to start getting sent home...and on mission the guys start out scattered about.

    could be used as rapid response or to reach targets to far away to reach in time with a chopper

    Have they talked about the paratrooper idea yet? to make it easy to implement just have a screen that says "troops dropping in" and then mission starts when them on the ground at random spots, may be make a parachute sprite if they want to be generous : )

  8. Well ill be, I went and googled it, to find out whats what, seems our mechs believe some bad intel... im going to have to pass this by and an give em some sh!t : P

    the true answer is....

    yes the impact shock wave will liquify flesh on its way through and tear you to bits, but unless it makes shrapnel by impacting near you then,

    no the shock wave of the round wont kill you (excluding heart attacks)

  9. OK I dont know if what im about to say has been covered in here but here goes

    1 nations should try and shoot down ufos in there own air space, but only get the jets the game starts you off with, this will keep fighters and small scouts out of the picture and force you as the player to take over as better UFOS show up and as you cover the world.

    2 refuel points around the world. when you fly out to a terror site/crash site, the place a nation launch's air craft from to shoot down UFO's should be visible on the map, and if you dont have the fuel, you auto stop over and refuel at one of these none player controlled bases.

    if you lose support from that nation you can no longer get fuel/fighter support

    whatcha all think?

  10. mmm I'm sorry if i made it sound like thats how the game runs, Im just putting intel out there, didnt mean to step on toes 0.0

    as for the weapons talk

    its an issue of round speed and mass, they got hit by a 20MM cannon yes, but did it hit the ground and skip into them? was it a long shot and the round slowed down? did the round go through objects before them?

    if it direct hit them...ya they may find arms and legs but the torso would be liquid (If ya got an email I can send war pics of people we shot up to demonstrate the damage a ballistic weapon does)

    also heres some direct impact on people with a 50cal sniper rifle

    you can see arms and legs flying off and bodies getting air time from the impact...the last guy was shot through a rock cliff face and it still lifted his body off the ground

    ...it dosn't vaporize them, it rips their body into pieces and makes "meat sauce" out of the direct impact point +/- 6 inches to a foot from the shock wave

    The Math...

    if memory serves its a issue of kinetic impact on air or target body...think it is "mass time velocity cubed (or velocity times it self 4 times...then multiplied by the mass)"

    the M2 (mounted vic) 50 cal has a range of like 6764 meters and a muzzle velocity of 3050 feet per second...its used normally to do recon by fire (as the shock wave kills you) take out air planes and light armor vics

    being this realistic would also give the aliens a reason to use their own kinetic weapons that we could learn from : )
