  1. So yeah I'm pretty new too. I'm 35 years old and hail from Birmingham in the UK.

Been waiting for a game that captures the true xcom feel since 1994 or so and this one seems to be it. I discovered it while reading one of the countless whine threads on the 2K forums while trying to decide if xcom:eu was worth cutting into my gaming budget.

My missus only lets me spend a certain amount of MY OWN GOD DAMN MONEY on games each month so didnt go for premium. Wishing I hadn't bought either Torchlight 2 or Borderlands 2 now so that I could have thrown more cash in Xenonauts direction.

Anyway... nice to meet you all!

  2. This game is the answer to my prayers. Thankyou from me also Goldhawk :)

Can't wait to show it off to friends and family after bugs/crashes are bit less commonplace. I know a fair few people who would bend over backwards for a good XCOM style game after enemy unknown let them down.

  3. 2. In the demo I noticed that I could not change the name of the soldiers. Only the call sign. I have always named my characters after friends/family and sci-fi characters. I would miss that option.

This question is pretty important for me as I also like to develop a bond with my soldiers through naming them after friends and family. Buzzles and Thothkins answered but it still isn't really clear if it will or wont be possible, have the devs not said either way?

Hovering on the pre-order button! I know it's a crazy thing to be hung up on but to each his own :)

  4. I just registered here today after discovering Xenonauts only last night.

Being a person who is quite careful where I throw my money as far as games are concerned I was hesitant to put any in Firaxis' direction after hearing of all the changes they made to the game.

XCOM:EU is a step in the right direction but it's strategy has suffered gravely at the hands of the mainstream games consumers. I wont point fingers in the consoles direction, I'll just give them a bit of an evil stare.

Fortunately a friend already bought it and after visiting him yesterday and watching a lengthy play session, I can safely say there is too much gone from the classic 1994 XCOM. All the bad points have been mentioned in other posts in this thread so I won't elaborate.

Suffice to say if Xenonauts continues on its current path, I know what I'll be spending that £20 on. This opinion is only from the demo too.

Keep up the great work Goldhawk.
