  1. There is absolutly no words to describe my pain. I can't wait to play the game and i am holding off until the release because i don't want some obscure bug to lessen my enjoyment of this game. And i visit the forums 3-5 times a day... the pain. Keep up the good work!

    I feel your pain!

Loving looking at the patch notes and watching how it develops but stopping myself from booting it up and losing a couple of days to it is agony... Waited so long for a good take on xcom that I really don't want to ruin this after I saw how good the early versions were.

Keep up the great work guys.

  2. Can't wait to get my teeth into the new improved Alien AI. I'm hoping it will be able to bait us, flank us and know that it can force us to make a stupid move into an overwatched ally for example.

There is nothing worse than the thought of an invading 'superior', 'intelligent' life form having no grasp of basic ground combat tactics and just wandering around like lost sheep.

I want to be crapping my pants at the thought of stepping off that transport.

    The tougher the better.

  3. So with the talk of tilesets and maps being end user moddable in the other thread, serious +respect to anyone who goes all out on a full hi-res old school xcom style mod :)

Might even have a shot myself depending on how time consuming it is, or at the very least help out whoever is brave enough.

  4. Thanks for the info on the mapping terminology guys :)

I think HWP hit the nail on the head above with what any well priced DLC should contain. I would still much rather it be openly moddable though as that gives a well grounded game infinite longevity.

I've stopped playing xcom:eu because I know the maps like my own backyard. Not knowing for sure where the spawns will be doesn't change the fact that the cover spots around the deployment zone are always identical.

The more maps, submaps and (IMO less importantly) tilesets we can get in xenonauts - the better.

How does everyone else feel? Do you want map variation from a tactical or purely aesthetic standpoint?

  5. If you were to get a Map DLC, would you prefer lots of variations around either a central theme (military bases) or area (Deserts of the Middle East) or would a steady stream of releases adding a little variation to each be best ?

Forgive me for not knowing the technical terms you guys use here (submaps, tilesets etc), I haven't done my homework on it yet. As long as the look and tactical layout of the maps changed enough, I'd certainly be willing to throw my money at DLC.

If given the choice between a reskin and more map layout variation, I'd have to go for the variation as that is what truly adds replayability for me.

  6. Also, yes, that jungle screenshot looks lovely. I'm sorta tempted but we've already got enough to do to get Xenonauts finished without adding more entirely new tilesets to the game...

Will it be possible to mod stuff like this into the final game as an end user with a little technical knowledge and artistic ability?

If not then at least rape our wallets with some future DLC :)

  7. Posting this in here as it's related.

How about Facebook integration. Your initial squad is a randomly selected (or even picked by yourself) group of people from your friends list. The pool of soldiers that you hire from could also be built from this list.

Flesh this out with the ability to log a friends missions, kills and memorable moments and then do a post tagging them in it. I think it could get pretty amusing.

I know there are obvious clashes with the kickstarter folks having their names in and I have zero clue on how much valuable dev time this would take up in relation to far more important features.

As I understand it though the facebook API isn't hard to work with and if by some act of god you run out of other things to do might you consider it? :)

  8. Any developer worth their salt would tweak the difficulty to accommodate the above changes. That list is by no means complete either, I could go on and on about what needs to change to make it worthy of the XCOM name (imo).

It already is faceroll by the way. Don't throw 'impossible' setting at me either, that isn't difficulty. That's rigging dice rolls in the enemies favour and removing anything remotely like strategy from the game in the wake of blind chance.
