Marty looked through the view window of alien containment at the Chucks inside. Some shifted listlessly about the room, others lay still, bruises from Dix's pistol-whippings still visible. Flicking a switch on the console in front of him, Marty activated the rooms internal comm system
blaring into the room. The Chucks flinched away as the sound reverberated in the room, before beginning to move in time to the music. He watched for a moment, before entering a code to cycle the music on a never-ending repeat. Leaving the containment control room, Marty headed towards the mess for some lunch. As he went his radio crackled into life:
"Marty, you there?" Lucy's voice exploded in his ear, distorted by the radio static.
"Commander? You really need to get the Doc to give you some of the upgrades, using radios is so old."
"Knock it off, Captain, or I'll have the Doc remove your mods ... fancy taking twice as many shots to kill Chucks again? Anyway, words come through from Commander Sathra, we need to prep the Chuck Commander for transfer to HQ" Lucy sounded more amused than annoyed.
"Already taken care of, Commander. All the Chucks will be ready for transport in 20 minutes or so. Though you may not want to send in anyone of a certain size to move them. They get a bit more than they bargained for."

And now if we can get a few others to jump in, and play there characters, might help with the delays in between missions.
Great idea, Red, I'll try and put something up later
-
RTS have taught us this. Elite troops get blue lasers.
No, no, no. The good guys get Blue lasers, the bad guys get Red lasers. It's all about the aesthetics
-
I got attacked by a wallaby as a child (its like a small kangaroo). Its not that everything is trying to kill you, just that everything is capable of killing you.
Can't forget about the Drop-Bears. Bastard things
-
They are infringing on our hard-won, yet fragile, identities. Chucks must die!
(Yep, another base run. Can I get a bayonet for my pistol?)
You want to pistol-whip a Chuck with a bayonet...?
-
Yeah to get all the nice to haves in, would delay the game for months more (if not longer) and would cost a fair packet too
-
Who says Sathra hasn't been doing that all this time, slowly changing your point of view by only linking the posts he wants you to see, and he just says that those were the only ones he could 'find'...
cue dramatic music NOW!
dum dum duuuuuuuuuuuuuuum

New site looks good, Chris, I've only taken it for a short spin so far, but I like what I see
-
The site originally had image verification, but I changed that to captcha a couple of days back. It didn't seem to slow things down. We now have a question about what type of game Xenonauts is for anyone that wants to register. Hopefully that'll help.
Good idea with the question, that should help a bit
-
Yay for high-explosives
-
True, hadn't thought of that. Might only mention it to other governments to try and drum up more diverse, and less personal, funding at first though. Rather than public announcing
-
Whichever base is closest to Cobra so we can do another one, well, maybe the Stuffers can have whatever is left over
-
Oh well, keep us in the loop, and we'll stay mostly happy
-
Dan, has anyone told you you'd make an excellent Santa?
An excellent anti-Santa, he doesn't give us what we want, only want he chooses to give
-
BTW, the Xenonauts are only meant to be secret up until the point the alien invasion starts. After that, they're no longer secret - all the planes and helicopters flying around would give the game away...
Old habits, Chris. A secret organisation isn't going to suddenly publicise just because they, and their activities, begin to be known. Over time certainly but not straight away I wouldn't have thought

Adding support for a tactical mini-map, either always on, or from a button press ala X-com.
Its very useful to have.
I'm all for a tactical minimap of some sort, even if it doesn't see much use it can be such a valuable resource
-
There is no release date and dev status should be known when the new Xenonauts site launches and the new build is released to pre-orders which should be........any day now?
Another week or so till the next build and project re-launch etc
I am *hoping* we can soft launch the pre-orders this weekend, and then officially re-launch the project in about 2 weeks on Saturday. Which would co-incide with Build V8 coming out.Dates subject to change.

It would be a good feature though, to have a massive explosion when a tank blows

Clearly the Mutons are scared of the stable and well adjusted team of professionals that are defending the Earth.
Or they took a wrong turn somewhere around Uranus.
teehee "Uranus", Gauddlike has Mutons in Uranus, Gauddlike had a mutated anus ... umm Go more base missions, yeah!
-
*At Cobra HQ*
Lucy: You heard the comms system! Do it!
Alien Prisoners: *whimper*
bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
-
nah , song fits a base attack well. Also ... Marty, Captain Chryssie Killer!!! ... or not

I have the star wars mod
Yeah I tried that one but could never really get into it as well as just native.
@ Jean-Luc - any idea if they are going to port The Last Days over to Warband as well, or is it just going to be on M&B?
-
Oh and the TLD (The Last Days) mod for M&B is apparently ~6hrs away from release at the time of me posting this. In case you're out of the loop it's the LoTR mod for the original Mount & Blade that people have been feverishly waiting for quite a few years now: http://www.moddb.com/mods/the-last-days
The mod's history is a dramatic tale of hardship, frustration and a lost mod leader making the release that much more satisfying.
Awesome! Will have to check it out

Just thought of another game today that is insanely good for what it is. Mount and Blade: Warband, sooooooo gooooooooood *drool*
