  1. This could be intentional and a side effect of the sequential animation, but I noticed I had one alien surrounded by 4 soldiers, and the first soldier reaction shot killed the alien. But then the other 3 soldiers also took reaction shots at the now-dead alien.

I suppose the soldiers really took reaction shots near-simultaneously and wouldn't have known that another soldier's shot killed the alien until after they shot, but the way it's animated it looks kind of odd.

  2. I heroically ran in and saved a farmer from an alien by stunning the alien with a stun baton.

But for the next 5 turns the farmer kept shooting at the stunned alien (hit my soldier once too). Eventually the farmer killed the alien.

Now if that were a real farmer I might understand his reaction to having an alien, conscious or not, on his property, and his desire for revenge, but I'm not sure if it's an intended or desirable part of the game mechanics. Should (armed) civilians target stunned aliens?

  3. I just had my first base defense mission, and it was messed up in several ways that screenshots don't quite capture. I forgot to take screenshots during the mission, and when I reloaded the autosave the game didn't load the same way (issue #1 no longer applies when I reloaded the savegame).

    1) All the invaders were in various parts of one room. Two of them (Sebalian and a drone) were apparently in some "entryway" beyond the walls of the room. There was an opening, but I couldn't go into it (or even within 2 tiles of it). I couldn't shoot into that room through the doorway (although I could shoot through a wall and hit the Sebalian). I could throw grenades into the area.

    2) I stunned an alien, and after I moved I noticed there was another stunned (blue) alien about 8 tiles away, no way I could've accidentally stunned that one. Later, I stunned another alien maybe 20 tiles away, and the magically-stunned alien "woke up".

    3) I had a severely woulded soldier who would bleed out the next turn, so I stunned them to save their life. It worked, in that my soldier didn't die (wounded: 17 days), although the end-of-mission report gave me -1 for loss of one Xenonaut. But now this soldier is in the hospital for 17 days, but still assigned to Charlie 1. Since they're wounded I can't un-assign them, and since they're wounded they can't go on missions, so I'm down one soldier for ground combat until they're at least 50% recovered.

edit: adding screenshot. It also seems silly to have all the aliens invade in a huge clump like that. If they always do that, a couple rocket launchers would solve the base defense mission in one or two turns...

  4. UFO group of 2 fighters + 1 corvette. I destroyted the two fighters and damaged the corvette and retreated. Rearmed at base and attacked again, and magically one of the fighters had reappeared, although it admitted it was dead.

If you can't read the text, it says

    FIGHTER - 1

    DAMAGE LEVEL: 100% (DESTROYTED)

Somehow I think it's not fair that dead UFOs can still shoot down my planes...

  5. I have 3 UFO groups flying around over Europe in this savegame, two solo fighters and one Medium+2-fighter group. About one game-hour after this save point, that group reaches a certain point on the map and I'm guessing it wants to do something (land, cause terror, etc) but it crashes to desktop.

  6. I was 97% sure I previously (still in 19.3) was able to add a research project to the queue without having any free scientists. Nevertheless, I just tried it and when I made a scientist available I was able to add the project to the queue.

On a broader scope, I don't really see the purpose of the categorized available research tree on the right side that you need to add to the research queue. It would be much more streamlined and intuitive if all available research projects were just added to the queue (with no scientists assigned). Then when I have some scientists available I can look at the descriptions for each research and decide how to allocate my researchers.

  7. I don't find the "Build New Base" or "Launch Interceptors" buttons all that intuitive, took me a while to find them despite them being top-centre. Perhaps visually buttonizing them somehow would help. For the "Build New Base" button, can there please be some kind of tooltip that indicates what is required to build a new base? If I try and build one it tells me I don't have enough money, but there's no indication (that I saw) that tells me how much it costs.

  8. I played through the terror mission again, and this time purposely didn't immediately assign research on the Heavy Plasma. It didn't crash. So I saved the game, went into my base, research, and assigned some research to Heavy Plasma and it crashed instead of returning to Geoscape. But, strangely, when I reload the savegame, it still crashes.

  9. I just successfully completed my first terror mission, came back to Geoscape and assigned research to the new Heavy Plasma artifact I retrieved, and promptly crashed to desktop. The autosave from presumably the completion of the terror now immediately crashes to desktop when loading the saved gave.

How do I attach a savegame if forum attachments don't work? :(

You don't have permission to access /forums/newattachment.php on this server.

  10. I have encountered the same issue. Doesn't matter if I attack a 3-fighter group with 3 of my own fighters, or two (haven't tried with one), and whether I have 3 or 2 or 1 fighters left at the end of the battle, as long as I win the battle it crashes to desktop when it should go back to the geoscape.

I would attach a sample savegame to help replicate the problem, but the forum is broken:

  11. I also have all the same problems. Also Desura download, re-verified multiple times.

    1) I have 3 autosaves and 2 manual savegames and while one of them will load without crashing, it loads into the start of a ground mission that always crashes upon completion. The other savegames just crash on load.

    2) I started with 12 soldiers in first base, hired 8 more without problems. Two weeks later when my second base was built, I tried to hire some soldiers there but nobody to recruit.

    3) Didn't have white box per se, but I have seen no imagery for soldiers, just whatever background is behind them, on the screen where you can pick what armor they wear and the portrait should change, I thought that might refresh it, but it just remained invisible.

    4) I have seen the roof stay in place on UFOs only so far. But I have seen other render-order issues, like a soldier standing in front of a fence, but some of the fence is drawn in front of the soldier. The most annoying render issue is invisible NPCs (presumably civilians) that just run around as a shadow circle on the ground but otherwise invisible.
