  1. Hi All. James here after many years of playing tactical type turn based thingies like fallout, shining force and the many variants of ufo. I live near London.

I have been skulking around this game for a long while and i'm very excited about the way development has been shaped by the feedback of the community.

  2. In other turn based games like fallout 1+2 i found the Idle animations very annoying, such as sprites randomly reloading guns or scratching their heads. If they are implemented I hope they don't include these meaningless out of context actions. I would be happy enough for the sprites to be as still as chessmen, i think it adds to the feel of tension when things move.

  3. How do you even blast holes in ufo?

I mean, from what I've seen ufo walls seem to be almost immune to damage, not even blaster bombs do much... Heck, they are only destroyed inside not outside in crashes...

In TFTD you could blast holes in uso with very powerful weapons like sonic disruptors or disruptor pulse etc. An old trick was to go in through the roof or simply hole the roof and lob grenades in.

I'd like to be able to damage/destroy the walls and doors of ufos in xenonauts so I can choose where to breach. it'd be consistent with the rest of the damageable terrain (but ufo outer skin would obviously be much tougher). Its a way to avoid the opening ufo door = reaction fire from within deathtrap

  4. In my opinion I would prefer the landed/crashed ufo to be part of the larger map area, not a separate map. When playing UFO and TFTD I enjoyed blasting holes in the ufos rather than using a door.

If the ufos are going to be huge, very cool, but if that means that I cant decide to blast my way in where I want to I’ll be disappointed.

Also if some ufos are going to be huge, I would like plenty of variety in terms of how they are arranged inside. hopefully not all craft of the same class will be identical within. I found the identical ships sometimes became a chore to clear. Some variety could spice things up.

  5. Hi all,

I was thinking about the indoor missions while watching Mars Attacks and thought why not have a "save the president" indoor mission? Protecting a high value target may encorage the player to take more risks to reach the target in time. Loss of the president could lead to much loss in income from said reigion.

Other indoor missions could be Prevent reactor explosion, Capture alien VIP etc. No idea how difficult this would be to do, but i would like the variation to encorage new tactics and loadouts for the team.
