You are considering the economics of it aren't you?
Ie - $30 backer gives you a (say) $20 dollar benefit after charges and fixed costs are taken into account. If the cost of the boxed copy plus the increase in charges and fixed costs is greater than the additional $20 return you'll get at $50 then you have lost out.

I've got some Alenium in my freezer so no worries there.
The angle thing is more complex - Need to compensate for rotation around the sun causing the amount of daylight on a specific point of the Earth's surface to change over a year, plus a differing amount of sun at the poles vs the equator, etc...

Crash site. I moved. Found one alien at the end of my move just out of site behind a building. Alien hidden movement resulted in a dead NPC soldier. In my next move I stupidly fired a rocket launcher at an alien from behind a van (actually firing over the hood - which should be possible I would have thought). The van blew up. So did the game.

I put one at Ayers Rock in Australia (very near the middle) for the giggles yesterday. 35 game days later I quit that game as no UFO had entered the control area
Haven't the aliens heard about Tim Tams????

Normal difficulty.
When I click to manufacture a MIG, it shows a snakemen picture (from XCOM) and won't allow me to begin production.
