  1. Episode 4 is available here. I catch a couple more bugs on film so i hope the Devs and or testers check it out as well. Keep up the good work Goldhawk!

I catch the loading from battle bug right in the beginning at about 2:00. I catch the new pathing bug from the Chinook at 4:40 twice. I catch the see through building bug at about 9:00. I catch another sight bug with the light scout where i cannot seem to get the entire ship visible starting at about 11:00 and becomes very apparent near 15:00 and 16:00. I catch the weight bug again at around 23:00. Then one bug during a night mission at around 27:50 where part of the building appears or seems to appear out of no where and is oddly placed blackness in my opinion. And one final bug in the video around 28:45 where i throw a grenade and nothing happens. It's seems to have just disappeared. Hope that helps :)

  2. Are you the guy who brought in that squirrel?

Yeah the squirrel is actually a real life friend that decided to use the voice changing feature on his headset last minute so i went with. That episode was really fun to make and is mostly shenanigans, however, in the episodes 2 & 3 i start to break down the basics of the game. The new episode I'm working on for uploading to YouTube tomorrow around 6pm CST. I'm hoping to bring more details and specifics into the video about the game. I'll also be using my personal thoughts about the game and i must stress that the views in the videos are strictly my own and are in no way endorsed (although i hope seen and considered) by Goldhawk. I've been doing a lot of forum searching trying to absorb as much information as possible.

  3. Me too. It even does it when he's dead. I shot him last turn with a rocket and the alien pop up went away. When I ended turn my screen was stuck on this> I could still hear music but count' move the camera or click on anything.

I had this happen with one in a building killed with a Hunter's Rocket. During the aliens turn i was hung up but there wasn't even an alien alive there to reaction fire.

    [Edit:]

I'm 99.9% positive it was a dead alien that caused this. After being shot with a rocket the Alien Icon you can click on to center on the alien was gone. However the camera centered exactly on the dead aliens original area.

  4. Soldiers not manually re-equipped after combat experience heavier than normal weight loads reducing AP in the next ground combat. Fixable by opening one soldiers inventory and re-equipping the weapon. APs will then return to normal in the following turn. Also fixable by manually re-equipping each individual soldiers weapon after a mission where extra weight is visible via the soldiers tab.

    [Edit:]

This bug was recorded on film and is visible in Part 3 of my Let's Look at Xenonauts series at the 18:27 mark.

  5. I was able to replicate the results of TRGG22 after a few tailing attempts. With a full squadron "3 aircraft" tailing worked perfectly fine and i was unable to replicate the bug. After attempting to tail with just 1 aircraft in the squadron (F17-1) as soon i click "tail target" the game crashed. I was able to replicate the bug once again this time with 2 aircraft in the squadron after a few attempts. Sending starter aircraft (f17-1 and 2) with no result, aircraft (f17-2 and 3) with no result, then finally aircraft (f17-1 and 3) and replicated the bug.

  6. Is the Xenonauts currently enjoyable to a complete X-Com noob?

I've tried to play the original X-Com two or three times and found it completely impenetrable. Is Xenonauts currently in a state where I could jump into it and actually understand what's going on, or should I wait until some sort of tutorial system has been implemented?

I like tooltips. It makes the game less taxing on your memory. Also, I believe tooltips have always been more of a PC thing, because consoles often don't have a cursor that can hover over anything.

Please do not take this as bashing or trolling or anything but constructive criticism. But i whole heartedly agree with with Sectoids Statement here.

or perhaps gamers nowadays has been severely spoon-feeded by the consolised-games which telling ya who to follow, when to open doors, what to pick up to shoot a tank.... etc.

X-Com while it is difficult and a little complicated doesn't make it impossible or impenetrable. A few minutes spent studying the manual, which you should do in any game regardless of a tutorial, will almost always put you in the direction you need to start learning the game. Since Xenonauts is in Alpha stages there is a learning curve you must get around, however, with that reading it's released manual should help you a great deal.

As for tool-tips being in the game i cannot agree with that at all. It takes away from the hidden difficulty the original X-Com brought to the table with not knowing exactly what anything did, however, the information was available if you looked it up in the UFOpedia.

With that all i am saying is do a little bit of leg work and you should be well rewarded with a delightful, yet buggy, alpha experience that is Xenonauts.

  7. @ Gorlom No problem at all, i think everyone has posted something that has made no sense before, i know i have xD.

Very cool i'll go looking into the Iceland Incident then, I am rather curious about it.

@ Gauddlike Everywhere you go in the world you are going to find different accents so i do really appreciate that. I'm sure i will find more of the ineffective ways of playing some of those parts, but that's all in good fun of the learning experience :) I post about 5 new videos per week so you can expect to see 2-3 new episodes of Xenonauts weekly so check back often. I'm also running another Let's Play Daily series along with it so i don't want the viewers who are following that series to be neglected by switching strictly to Xenonauts.

I am currently running a "Comment Vote" video on the main page that ends in just a few short days. Basically i'm having the audience vote on which game on a list they'd like to see next so if you feel like checking that out, currently X-Com UFO is in the lead so that's going to up my LPD schedule to 3 active games. I may need to do 6 videos a week to give all the games the love they deserve. At any rate if anyone else feels like voting just leave a comment on that video =) I really like to try and involve my viewers.

  8. I belive that the reaction fire bugg can be fixed if you fix the invisible aliens bugg through the steps in the workaround thread. Or at least in the same way if you discover which trigger isnt finding the right file.

So i took a look around the workaround thread and found the following fix for a spectre xml file, replacing ceasan/weapon with ceasan/noncombatant/weapon in all lines. So I've gone ahead and done that in an attempt to nix that bug in the butt. Thanks for pointing me in that direction =), we'll have to see if the invisible aliens and reaction fire bug still continues. Hopefully not though, we'll have to see if it pops up in any of the future battles as i have yet to actually test it i currently do not know. Crossin' my fingers! :D

As for the sound file i really have no idea what you are referring to. Perhaps I'm missing something in your post but I am unsure of the relevance of this sound file.

  9. I wasn't refering to the ironman mode. There are more save-related bugs. Like the research tree breaking for instance. Different problems in ground battle has been known to be becasue of loading games in battle etc. I think there was some menu that didnt behave as expected but you could still press Esc. etc.

I think I enunciate the "o" a bit more, so to me it sounds like you dont pronounce the o at all.

But it really isnt necessary to change. =P

I should add more smileys to my posts. Reading back they seem a bit harsher then I intended ^^

Edit: I recalled that you mentioned that there was no travel time for scientists and equipment and that you could reequip soldiers that was still traveling inside a chinook. As far as I understand from Chris explanation this is because all aspects of the game are currently developed seperately and act independently, only loosely tied together so that we could have a playable version. A bit of a shortcut to let us play the game but will be fixed later.

Ahh yes i've run into my fair share of bugs and crashes. My favorite one so far has to be the "jumping the wall" bug where you trooper essentially gets stuck in the fence or wall your attempting to cross. I figured out that if you crouch and then move after getting stuck your soldier will slide through the fence / wall and the bug is gone for the time being. Another one is the "Reaction Fire" bug which seems to crash the game. It doesn't let you do anything and stays like that until you force close the program. I haven't actually tried saving and reloading during combat so i haven't encountered any bugs there yet.

I took another watch at my video and noticed that yes i indeed don't put enough emphasis on the O in xenOnauts so i will try and fix that but you know how brains work. They are hardwired with a pattern so it may just be futile lol :P

    Edit:

That makes a lot more sense now! I was rather curious as to why the scientists didn't travel and how it was possible to re-arm squads mid flight lol!

  10. Oh no doubt i get that you didn't criticize and even if you had i would be looking at it like this "how should i improve upon what i'm doing" simply because i am not a professional and welcome all feedback as long as it isn't negative in the manner of delivery.

Anyways awesome thanks for watching and i hope that the videos end up being enjoyable and informative =)

  11. Yes, it wasn't critizism or anything. It was just something that struck me as odd, and I wanted to know if anyone else noted it as well or if it was jsut me =P

xPDxTV: You might want to check out the workaround sticky in the bugg section/forum. gives you a bit more information about things like the invisible aliens and savegame related buggs.

The "save game bug" i encountered in my first video was simply the game auto selecting ironman mode for me. I found that little bugger when i watched the video again, so in episode 2 i actually state that it was indeed just ironman mode and not a bug.

I guess it might strike me as odd if i had heard it pronounced another way that what i was used to. I really hadn't thought too much about how i was saying the word to be honest :P but in all aslong as the public gets more views of the game my messing up of the word shouldn't hold it back too much i'd hope lol!

  12. lol. yes to the PPS. Gorlom

xPDxTV- yea i cant figure out why you have never used the f17s for scouts.

If you had you would find there is no reason to even change the weapons out on the mig becouse they are useles against the scout compaired to the f17.

seems to me you have done a little brousing on the forums but i think you need to do a bit more, if you do you will be able to explain what is happening and why a bit better.

Still, im glad you put Xeno on your page as it will get more visibility in public view. TY for that.:)

If this was a preview of a complete game i would see no problem going in blind but to go into an alpha build blind just makes it look bad.

Back to the f17/mig, there are going to be many changes in the starting aircraft in future builds which may even include no mig at the start of the game. who knows for sure right now?

mabye you could do a bit more reading up on things and do another preview of the v9.1 that is due out in the next day or so? :D

Wow i'm really glad that i'm getting all this feedback so relatively quickly, and i do really appreciate that. I guess i never really thought about not sending the mig out at all just the f-17s and that is a mistake i do want to rectify. In the next video i'll be sure to exclude the mig from intercept missions.

I didn't go in completely blind i did do some testing as well as a quick browse of the forums before making the first video but i obviously was a little more under prepared than i thought. I have been doing a more thorough job of scouring the forums and soaking up material so with that the third episode it should be much more informative.

I do want to say that i am not a professional and i don't make any money doing this. I simply do it for my own enjoyment and if i manage to push some more people to the game, well obviously that helps =).

Also as for the pronunciation of Xenonauts i must admit that at times i stumble over my own words and if there is a correct enunciation i would be glad to take the suggestion.

I hope I've covered everyone's concerns and input and once again i appreciate all of the feedback.

    Edit:

In the next video i'll go into more detail about what an alpha build really is. Thank you for pointing that out because i believe your right. Not everyone will know what exactly an alpha build is, thank you!
