No catch, Free game, but only 8 missions, more to be release later.
If you folks like this and are left wanting more, you should take a butchers as the Wing Comander Saga, it Total conversion, also using the FRED. I'm not sure if you need to own Freespace 2 for this, but since that's only $5 on GOG, thats no excuse:

Hi all,
Just a heads up that a free BSG space sim launched today. The game will be released in episodes, and is set to run concrrent to the BSG storyline, on another Battlestar that survived the Cylon invasion.

To be honest, I won't be unhappy that Xen isn't done. Xen was to Half Life what the ending of ME3 is to ME3.Well.... that's a bit harsh. I'm not sure i agree to the extent of ME3 ending (The biggest anti climax of any game I've ever played), but the Xen in HL1 was the weakest point in the game, IMHO.

It's my personal opinion that there are altogether too mant MMO's on Kickstarter. I dont understand this obsession with playing with people online, I've met a lot of people online and most of them are twats.
I played SWTOR as far as I could in SP mode then got bored cos I couldnt pass one of the bosses without help.

You have to log in first and then set it to offline mode. So it sucks if you can't access the internet or if you're internet is crap.
No you dont. If you just unplug you network cable, when you launch steam it'll say there's no Internet connection available. YOu can then click on "retry" or "go offline".
TBH, I'll have Steam over any other DRM there is. Steam is (by far) the lesser of the DRM evils, IMHO.
I'll be buying the Special edition of Xcom:EU (When it becomes available in the UK), and I hope it uses steamworks so I can keep 90% of my Game liberary in one place.

I think the stream looks fantastic. This game looks a lot better than I was expecting, I cant wait to see the PC UI at PAX. I'm aslo glad the PC version is getting a little more love, for a change.
And EA says isometric games are dead, Pfft... I bet this massivly outsells Syndicate!

The Tubes in London have been fine, actually. Even a bit quiet as most of the locals have either buggered off, working from home, or gone to the Olympics. I normall travel in at about 06:30 and it's bussier than usual (as folks seem to have gotten up early to accomodate the tourists) but it's no where near as bad as it was made out to be.

I've gotten every TW game since Medieval 1. Rome and MED 2 were my favorite. Shogun 2 was brilliant from a gameplay POV, but I'm not the biggest fan of the setting. ROME 2 has me bouncing in my chair with anticipation, though.
Is FotS really worth it? I've been meaning to pick up a copy, but after buying Crusader Kings 2 on a steam sale a few weeks back, I'm finding it hard to find time for anything else....

ROME 2 was announced yesterday. While I'm loving Crusader Kings 2, TW is something special. I'm soooo stoked about this!!!!!
