  1. Obviously their definition of "anywhere" is different.

But yeah, I too would like to have bonus for Antarctica or such. But then again, in original game putting base to Antarctica is useless unless you want to use base for research only for some reason. In Xenonauts you can't even put base there....

True, but you can put you base in London, or Paris, or Warsaw, or Amserdam, or Berlin, or Rome, or Athens, or Istambul, or Madrid, or Luxemborg, or Malta, or Dublin, or Aberdeen or just about ANYWHERE in europe.

In Xcom EU, you can put the base in (what looks to be) Warsaw, in Europe.

  2. Oh, me too. I cant wait to play it. I'm just somewhat less enthused than I was a week ago, when I though I could build my base where I liked, and could look where I wanted. :(

That said, it's still firmly on my pre-order list. I just hope the issues above get fixed over time.

  3. Demo was good, and the game looks fun. However, I have 2 very seriose complaints that I hope with be patched in or modded.

1.) Camera control. The game is 3d capable, FFS let me chose where I look.

2.) Base placement. Jake said in the 1hour livestream you can place the base "anywhere". Choseing from 5 preset locations is not anywhere. I want to be able to put my base in Antarctica, Australia, or Sparta.

  4. ^THIS. Btw, played for 20 minutes, really addicting but too easy (and I sincerly hated first one and half missions at the beginning, let me move my troops wherever I want!)

Agreed. I loved playing most of the 2nd mission, but I had to unistall the demo. Being ordered where to order my troops (and getting them killed) was not good for my blood pressure.

  5. The demo was ok. The game seems fun, but I felt very very frustrated by the control interface. Why can't I rotate my camera to custom angles of view, instead of the pre-set 4. Why can't i zoom further back. The UI seems a but..... clunky to mee to.

As for positioning the base, this is assumed to be the Tutorial, so I think it's confirmed you can place the base anywhere in the actual game. (tutorial is skipable, btw).

Overall, the game looks good. Hopefully the controle interface will be improved either with patches or through mods. I think this is it's biggest stumbling block at this stage.

  6. I'm so excited for this game. All I've seen and read up until now have only made me want to play it more. I was very cautious in the beginning, but Solomon's team have really done their best to keep it solid.

Yeah, me too. I took no more than a passing interest in it, my closest watch was in fact this thread for information on it. Then RPS posted a link to this vid:

After seeing actual gameplay, I got bitten by the hype bug, in a big way. I've preordered.

  7. EDIT: Protip for beating the last boss: Take out it's missile launcher (the first on the right side, from the center) first. Get it out of the picture, and almost anything he throws at you in any phase is tankable with 4 points of shields (aside from the Laserburst flurry in phase 3, but if you have a cloak you can always dodge that).

You can target individual weapons? I've always just focused on dropping their weapons & shields rooms.

  8. Dunno, I've yet to play Xcom, although I'm very keen to do so.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to user preferance. As much as I love the old Xcom, I like where the new one is going, and we get Xenonauts (the Xcom HD remake, essentially).

I personally think Xcom will be a tad better (I really like the "fluidic" feel of the combat in Xcom) than Xenonauts. But given the development budgets for the 2 titles, that's hardly an insult to Xenonauts.

  9. Hey Guys,

I've just finished the first episode, and I have to say.... Wow!!!!

This game is amazing, anyone who's ever even marginally enjoyed a space sim, and like BSG, get to it. Playing this is amazing. The first few missions take place with an alternate view of the attack on the 12 colonies. It really does well to convey a sense of overwhelming loss and being backed into a coner.

Trust me guys, dont miss out on this!
