With all the new enemies, their resistances and all the new specialized weapons to defeat them there is no way to build a super squad capable of beating any situation. Therefore i think being able to re-equip in the dropship once you find out what you're fighting would be a great mechanic, i believe there was something similar in the original xcoms. If this is not possible how about adding a mechanic where you can scout a ufo landing/crashsite to get a rough enemy comp before you send in your squad.

After building the seeker scout car and equipping it with the vulcan gatling cannon i took it into battle for the first time. On the tactical battle map the car worked fine but it simply had no weapon equipped. After reloading i confirmed that it had the vulcan equipped BUT it would no longer allow me to re-equip the rocket launcher that came as stock, it was greyed out.

After i ran into this problem i went back and built the original hunter scout car, this time equipped with the AP machine gun, only to find it now suffers from the same bug. just like the seeker it now uses the apc art asset that was terrain in the vanilla game and again it has no gun.
